Elvis Andrus should've tried to rub AB's head just before he caught the ball.
While I like to imagine Beltre was staring daggers at Andrus, was there a runner on base at the time?

No, this was the first batter of the inning.

If Andrus were to rub Beltre's head while the ball was coming down, what would happen? Would Beltre ignore it and catch the ball? Or would he lose his ####, punch Andrus in the throat, and let the ball drop?

I have a terrible, irrational fear of giraffes. It has occurred to me to wonder what would happen if I were playing baseball and a giraffe showed up mid-play.

It's really bad form to post images, especially animated ones or videos that autoplay on the main news index page. I hope Jim takes the suggestions in his tech/nerd thread to eliminate the possibility in the redesign.
Other players seem to get a huge kick out of messing with Beltre.
Yeah, my take on it is that as insane as Beltre sometimes gets he's genuinely a good guy. I have a friend like that, getting him wound up is really easy and the results are usually pretty funny but he's a good guy so when he's raging at us for stealing his fries or changing the channel or whatever minor transgression has set him off we just laugh at him (which has the glorious effect of making us laugh harder).
Beltre is a lot of fun.
And that stare of death is top notch.

This is the most awesome thing I have ever seen. The look on Elvis' face BEFORE the look on Adrian's is priceless.

Autoplay videos, sure. Silent hilarious baseball gifs, no, and hell no. Those are fine, please.

Clearly Andrus was ####### with Beltre on this play, but isn't that technically the shortstop's ball?

Andrus must have gotten phone calls from Jacoby Ellsbury and Jeremy Hermida.

Anyone who hates anigifs has lost the spark of life inside them. I'm sorry, it's true.

#8: I find them a bit annoying as well. But I just get rid of them with Adblock.

I do wonder why he's so inflexible on this point. He took out 2/3 of the Red Sox OF on plays that were simply not his balls. It would have been nice if he could have given ways on those.

In Soviet Russia Seattle, your balls get taken out! What a country!
That's fantastic of Andrus ... he's got that sh!t-eating grin even as Beltre is calling him off. Love it.

The GIF medium is good for baseball.

I absolutely adore GIFs, but I agree with #8. My otherwise-fast computer comes grinding to a halt when GIFs are playing, especially when I read BBTF by opening a million tabs and then flipping through them.
One is fine, but that article on Jose Molina last week had like 15 .gifs playing at once, which meant that it took over a minute to watch each one-pitch video. And I'm using a brand-new laptop.
This one is awesome. It reminds me of that Looney Tunes with the big tough dog and the little annoying dog.

OK, after looking at that long page of Beltre Head Rubbing gifs it would appear that about two thirds of them were Victor Martinez. Is Beltre that weird about it or is Victor just that big a d*ck? (I don't want to discount the Both option, so feel free to go that way as well.)
I don't mind a gif or two, but any more should go on multiple pages.
I also realize that they had perfectly valid reasons to let him go, but I was sad the Sox didn't resign Beltre. Though he's never quite been the huge star I expected him to be, at least not consistently, he's one of the most fun guys in the game to watch play. He's a great fielder, got a cannon arm, a fair number of enjoyable eccentricities: the down-on-one-knee swing, the submarine style throwing motion, the fact that he's one of the guys who is obviously enjoying himself when he plays. I'm glad to see him having a late-career peak, and only wish he could have hit like this in Seattle. Probably my favorite position player in the game right now.
EDIT:
Is Beltre that weird about it or is Victor just that big a d*ck?
They're best friends. It's more in the nature of ####### with a buddy than real harrassment.
Apparently BTF is still largely populated by stubborn Apple II holdovers.
I'm using a work-issued Lenovo T420, which I think is a relatively new laptop model. Granted there is a lot of other software running on this computer, but the gif on this page still takes about 2 minutes and 15 seconds to run on my computer. It doesn't slow anything else down, so not that big a deal, but does it take everyone else this long?

I was always taught (and now teach) that the infielder goes until he gets called off. The pursuit of the balls was fine, just the fact that his range was so ridiculous.

No problems here. I'm on a Dell desktop.
