Gretchen Carlson Interviews Derek Jeter, Neglects To Mention Her Husband’s His Agent (VIDEO)

As flabby-hitter turned bloated statesman, Winston Llenas Churchill, once said…“They say that no player is perfect. Then they tell you infield practice makes perfect. I wish they’d make up their minds.”

“Fox & Friends” co-host Gretchen Carlson interviewed Derek Jeter Wednesday morning — but in the course of praising the Yankees star, she neglected to mention that her husband is his agent!

Carlson introduced Jeter by describing him as “the last pure athlete in Major League Baseball” and saying that “he seems to do everything right.”

The interview touched on subjects including his post-baseball plans, the athletes he admires, and how he juggles living in the public eye.

After the interview, Carlson told her co-hosts that she also said to Jeter, “So many people think that you are this perfect guy,” adding that “he doesn’t like that label.”

“I said, ‘Do you have any flaws, like, do you make your bed in the morning?’” Carlson said.

Carlson’s husband, Casey Close, is Jeter’s longtime agent.

The excerpt makes it sounds like Gretchen Carlson is obsessed with Jeter.

She should have asked him about Tiger.

Okay, I'm going to have to incorporate this into my grand plan to destroy the Yankees (this is all tongue and cheek, BTW):
1. Let it be more widely-known that the water in New York City is not Kosher. Mass exodus (no pun intended) of my wealthier, more observant Jewish brethren from New York deprives Yankees of many wealthy Legends Suite holders.
2. Begin malicious, completely false (probably) rumor that Derek Jeter is banging his agent's wife.
3. ???

.....
?. Yankees Destroyed

Oh my God. Fox News is engaging in disreputable practices?! How is that possible on the network of Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity?

Fox news is rapidly deteriorating to the level of MSNBC with Chris Matthews's tingling leg and Keith Olberman's agricultural college degree and Andrea mitchell's apologies for Tim Geithner not paying his taxes.

After 35 years, we've finally discovered a scandal that makes Watergate seem like a third rate burglary.

I'm disappointed. I've always thought of Gretchen Carlson as the Phyllis George of Fox News.

P.S. I had no idea she was on Fox News until I saw this Playboy video. WARNING: This video is unfortunately safe for work. Hell, it's safe for a kindergarten classroom.

I'm not sure she should have mentioned it as much as Fox should have had one of her two co-hosts without a conflict of interest do the interview.

I'm not familiar with Fox & Friends, but from their web site, it looks like another version of the Today show? If so, I don't give a crap about any conflict of interest. Its fluff.

I agree with 10 and 11 for the most part. That being said what Carlson said seems to be pretty over the top even for crap morning TV "news"talk.
   13. Tripon Posted: December 03, 2009 at 05:01 AM (#3401820)
It'd be the Today Show that is allowed to take shots at Obama at will.

I think they got some other rabbis in to determine that the water is kosher and that those microscopic crustaceans don't count. It was just one meshugge rabbi (in Israel, I think) who had declared it treif, anyhow.

It also makes it sound like she thinks making one's bed in the morning is a fault of some kind.

I don't remember the last time I made my bed. It's a waste of time.

Seriously. I don't know why people subject themselves to this idiocy. If I may go all Gaelan for a moment...cable "news" might be the single most destructive element in American popular culture today. Do everyone a favor and turn the arseholes off. If you don't watch, they will wither away and die.

Cable news could use a lot of things, but more words isn't one of them.

I don't get why people get so worked up over cable tv news. There's sillier things out there in real life and on the internet. Let's just all be adults about it.

Oh -- speaking of right-wing media, the Washington Times is undergoing mass layoffs and cutting back its sports coverage. Unfortunate, as the Times covers sports better with its relatively meager resources compared to the Post, and Mark Zuckerman was excellent with his Nats coverage. Alas, the paper now wants to focus even more on being an ideological haven for right-wing punks, not a general-interest daily. Ah, that old devil Moon.

I second that emotion.
