There was a tie break based on last seasons HRs
I like the POV camera angle.
A lot in this world has passed me by.
Still, there's no way he was going to beat Pete Alonso tonight. Before his last round, as they were waiting to come back from a commercial, Alonso was standing at the plate singing along with "Don't Stop Believin.'"
I got to go the year it was in CitiField and it was great...my only complaint was the downtime between batters...the Mets/MLB didn't really seem to know how to handle it and brought in some minor league style entertainment (dogs catching frisbees at 300 feet and things like that) which can be fun in a 6,000 seat stadium, but fell flat in a larger ballpark. The best part for me was actually BP before the game...hardest hits of the night were from Machado hitting lasers all over the field during BP, not during the derby.
He was so locked in, it was unbelievable. It seems like several times he hit five or six in a row.
It also shows how important the guy lobbing the ball in is. I wonder if the rules would allow someone to use a pitching machine. Alonso could probably do even better with the ball coming in at exactly the right location and speed.
