How Matt Harvey is trying to fight off the baseball end he fears

After working out for the Blue Jays in Connecticut in February, Harvey wasn’t offered a contract. He’s still looking for a new team — a challenge that’s been heightened by the sport being shut down by COVID-19.

Although he’s only 31 years old and is injury-free, the former ace admits he’s considered the possibility he may not get another chance.

“I have thought about it here and there,” Harvey told The Post by phone in a recent interview. “I haven’t not had a job in 10 years. It’s definitely different, but it’s exciting at the same time because I feel so good mechanically.

“I hope somebody gives me a shot. I feel like I have many more years in me.”

He has not very good since 2015. Considering he missed 2014 due to injury, he basically has had own good year in the last 6. It is suprising that he has not been signed to a minor league deal but for all I know he's unwilling to do that. He did will for himself considering he has made around 30 million including his signing bonus. Just another pitcher with lots of talent who got hurt and was never the same.

Harvey is why the Newark Bears were invented. If this were a normal season and indie ball were being played he'd have a chance to prove he can pitch, assuming he'd be willing to go to the Atlantic League or the Frontier League.

Harvey's 2015 is going to be an interesting subject for arguments.

On the one hand, he was coming off an injury, and an innings limit might have been warranted.

On the other hand, he was healthy and effective, and the Mets made a surprise run to the World Series -- the only pennant they've won since 2000.

He's made $27 million in his career so far, so he's certainly been well compensated. But with a few more years he would have made a lot more than that. But thoracic outlet syndrome isn't related to his earlier injury...

Of his career earnings, the Angels have paid him slightly more than the Mets.

I guess there's an excuse, the Mets had his cheap and good seasons since the drafted him. Angels should have drafted him when they had a ch...never mind.
