1. Hombre BrotaniPHI 59-55
ATL 59-55
NYM 57-55
NYM has 4-1 lead in 6th in first game of yet another doubleheader
PHI has a 2-0 lead in 4th
ATL has a 5 pm start
PHI 59-55
ATL 59-55
NYM 57-55
Shades of 1973.....with the top 5 NL East teams bunched between the Mets 82-79 and the Cubs 77-84. And the Cubs weren't actually eliminated until the final day of the regular season's original schedule.
but Lars Nootbar hit his first HR for the Cardinals today.
if he makes it big, his candy confection is sure to be... nutty.
PHI 60-55
ATL 59-55
NYM 58-55
Mets lead nightcap 2-0 with 9 outs to go
Braves tee off in a half hour
Raiders 17 -- Browns 0
EDIT: I guess the question for us Cub fans is whether the end to this season will be sufficiently bad as to achieve the 2003 Tigers embarrasment effect in just 2 months and force the Cubs to spend to be tolerable next year.
Can you name these “sluggers”?
Shohei Brotani with a sly smile walks away sheepishly....
Galvis and Hernandez are correct.
was shocked that he pitched the 9th.
Still, seeing Stanton step up in the clutch for a change made the loss a bit more bearable. And that fabled White Sox bullpen wasn't so great after all.
July 29, 2010: Traded by the Philadelphia Phillies with Anthony Gose and J.A. Happ to the Houston Astros for Roy Oswalt.
backup C Curt Casali was 7-for-70 after his first 0-fer in June
since then? Casali.......... 26-for-73 - .342

Tim Anderson: Fifteenth walkoff homer ever hit by White Sox against the Yankees.
The first? Shoeless Joe Jackson, Jul 20 1919.
Also - cut down on the time between pitches.
Or even better, stage a tripleheader:
Game 1, 11:00 AM: White Sox vs. rotating AL opponent
Game 2, 3:30 PM: Cubs vs. rotating NL opponent
Game 3, 8:00 PM: White Sox vs. Cubs, with a rotating HFA
Not to mention letting MLB itself get a piece of the Great Stadium Extortion racket from local governing bodies all over the country rather than just playing the heavy for ownership groups. Follow along at home by betting on which city gets the next gimmick game at one of MLB's many Official Gaming Partners.™
Let those clubs get in on it, too.
In fact, add the Cardinals, so that every team blacked out in Iowa gets to play there.
But do the White Sox have a traditional rival that lasts longer than any given year's hot division race? Is there even another AL Central team that outdraws the Yankees or the Red Sox in the park formerly known as Comiskey 2? I don't think that this year's matchup was a randomly chosen accident.
As for the blackout issue, that doesn't apply to nationally televised Fox games, does it?
also, from last month:
"Major League Baseball (MLB) has expanded its deal with DraftKings to include the live streaming of games on the sports betting and daily fantasy giant’s app.
The new agreement will see the introduction of the ‘Bet & Watch’ streaming integration, enabling fans with MLB.com and DraftKings accounts to watch one free, live game per week from the baseball league via the app.
It marks DraftKings’ first live streaming deal with a major North American professional sports league.
In addition, both parties plan to collaborate on future sports betting-themed game broadcast experiences that will live within the MLB.TV broadcast product. DraftKings is also now a co-exclusive official sports betting partner of MLB, joining BetMGM.
As part of the expanded relationship, DraftKings remains the exclusive official daily fantasy sports partner of MLB."

[my note: 'co-exclusive' = 'not exclusive']
