The Bible refers to the abomination of desolation a few times, referring to a future eschatological event. I think it has appeared this year. I give you the abomination of desolation, the 2021 Cincinnati Reds bullpen!

They won't. It's Shohei Ohtani Day!

And I guess Michael Lorenzen is the messiah. 1.2 ip, Reds survive 6-5.

New York Yankees Stats
Anthony Rizzo is the first player in Yankees history with an RBI in each of his first six games with the team

The Cubs have runners in first and second with no one out, when the next batter flies out to the warning track in right. The runner on second does not tag up. This team can't do anything right now.

I think the planet stopped spinning. The Red Sox had a starter actually go more then 4 innings AND not give up 3 runs. These 2 things, in combination, have proven elusive for any Red Sox SP over the last couple of weeks.

Funnily enough, they may actually win a game. Sure it's against Detroit, but any port in a storm type of thing...

Shohei Ohtani, 6 IP, 1 run, 4 hits, 6 Ks, 0 walks.
Last four starts: 26 IP, 4 ER, 17 hits, 23 K, 1 walk. 1.38 ERA, 0.69 WHIP. Nice.

The Braves have done it! They've broken the streak!

Since the All-Star Break: L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W-W!

Granted, there's a suspended game in there that would have messed it up once they finish it, but whatever. Braves now at - you guessed it - .500 on the year.

Anthony Rizzo is the first player in Yankees history with an RBI in each of his first six games with the team

I doubt if Joey Gallo is the first player ever to strike out at least once in his first six games as a Yankee, but then his current streak is still very much alive.
