Clint Frazier nearing deal with Cubs after Yankees release

Clint Frazier is close to finding a new home.

The outfielder, released by the Yankees last week, was finalizing a one-year deal to join the Cubs, The Post confirmed.

The 27-year-old was designated for assignment by the Yankees after a difficult season in which he opened the year as the starting left fielder before he was sidetracked by poor performance and injuries.

Frazier last played for the Yankees on June 30 and had a rehab assignment cut short, as he experienced vision problems and dizziness — though neither the team nor Frazier explained the exact nature of the situation.

Well, it's a more interesting signing than the Gomes one.

If you're gonna be terrible, might as well stock up on the reclamation projects that only cost money.

They said they'd be active on the FA market.

If it doesn’t work out, blame Jose.

Yeah, whaddya got Jose? Better than Jerry Morales? Todd Hollandsworth? Schwarber? :-)

This may put me in favor of the NL DH ... as I understand it, his defense will offend my delicate aesthetic sensibilities. I assume it's a trivial amount of money but what an odd set of signings for the Cubs.

BOLD PREDICTION: Clint Frazier will have more WAR than Aaron Judge for the Cubs!

That's because Judge won't be playing for the Cubs.

I’m not saying it’s a high bar to clear.

Did you see his 2021? I'm not sure that's a bet I'd take.

I think I figured this one out. If there's one thing I've learned from Yankees fans over the last few years, it's that Clint Frazier can be traded for anybody. I expect to see Wander Franco at SS for the Cubs by June 1. (Granted, we might have to swing a deal for Miguel Andujar first to pull that one off.)

Let's say absolutely everybody on the Cubs is on the table - is there any deal that the Rays would go for? Assuming the Rays couldnt just dump the Cubs players and had to put them on their 40-man, is the a package that gets it done, and still stays true to the Rays not paying a lot of money each year? Does Stroman, Willlllson, Scwindel, Wisdom, and a few bullpen arms do it?
