Japan’s Giants to establish women’s baseball team

The Yomiuri Giants Japanese professional baseball club says it is forming a women’s team.

The club introduced the new team’s first four players on Wednesday. The four appeared in uniform before fans in an event held in Tokyo. The Giants manager, Hara Tatsunori, put caps on their head.

One of the women, Shimano Ayuri, said they will work hard to contribute to the development of women’s baseball.

The Giants, which have won the Japan Series 22 times, hope more people will play baseball and more women will become fans of the sport.

The club says it is considering allowing the women to join training sessions of the Giants in February, and that it will hold tryouts and use other means to find more players.

The club says it wants the women’s team to take part in an amateur baseball league in 2023.

I knew some girls, even back in high school, that played really well. Might not have the arm for right field or the left side of the infield, but could play second or center or left, against male competition, and hit line drives.

Fantastic to see. I'd love to see pro-women's teams do well. I have 4 daughters, one of whom loves playing sports (very good at hockey, played on competitive teams for soccer and gymnastics, loves to play baseball where she is used all over but now is settling in as a catcher).

I coach 10-12 year olds. On one of hte travel teams I coached the last 5 years (we started when they were 8) we played a team about 20 times and one of their star players was a girl. She was a great player. Her dad was the coach and I asked him what she was going to do next year (they move to 90 foot diamonds at 13 so that’s when girls often move to softball). He said “I’ve been dreading this conversation since t-ball.” She was unquestionably the best athlete on that team and certainly could handle second base (probably doesn’t have the arm for short). I hope she sticks with it, she’s a great kid and player.

The japans giant decided to establish a football team for women in order to provide them a platform to make their career in the field. This https://uk.bestessays.com/coursework-service.html club also arranges football leagues on a national level to support woman players to join training sessions.
