Jason Bartlett brings Tacos to the People

Hey America, are you ready for some free tacos? Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Jason Bartlett stole free tacos for America from Taco Bell(R), as he stole second base in the bottom of the 5th inning of Game 1 at the World Series. As promised, Americans will feast on millions of free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Tacos as Taco Bell’s “Steal A Base, Steal A Taco” World Series promotion paid off for the second straight year.
Fans can visit any participating Taco Bell location on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (local time) and claim their free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Taco.

I’m more of a Quesadilla person, alas.

Yes, but why didn't he bring a pinch-hitter to the 8th inning?

In related news, Taco Bell's stock plunged 79% in early trading this morning, and analysts predicted that they would be closing thousands of stores across the country and laying off at least one-third of their workforce. Many analysts predict the company will be forced into bankruptcy by the end of next week. Attorneys for Taco Bell announced plans to file suit against Bartlett in federal court for estimated damages of 50 million dollars.

"Mr. Bartlett was aware before he stole second that if he was successful, the result would be economic disaster for Taco Bell," said a company spokesman. "His decision to wantonly and imprudently steal second under the circumstances resulted in enormous losses to Taco Bell shareholders."

Attorneys are also said to be considering lawsuits against Cole Hamels for failing to adequately hold Bartlett on and Carlos Ruiz for failing to throw Bartlett out.

I don't like to use the word "hero" often, but Jason Bartlett is the greatest hero in American history

The best part was the Taco Bell president being interviewed and stating that free tacos would be available to all Americans on NOVEMBER 28th.

Bartlett is no Tacoby Ellsbury.

It's Tacoby Bellsbury, Joe.

I also enjoyed that the Taco Bell president is an Englishman. Who better to sell Mexican food in the United States than a Brit!

I thought he was an Aussie.

Can we really consider Taco Bell Mexican food? I always think of it as the bastardized version of Mexican food. Kind of like what Red Lobster is to seafood.

the accent sounded English to me, and he mentioned being a cricketeer (cricket isn't that popular is Australia, is it?)

I am going to wash it down with a free "Chinese Democracy" Dr Pepper!

I think Phil Coorey would disagree with you.

I pulled into Taco Bell last night and asked for my free Volcano Taco that I won because Utley hit a home run. They acted confused and said it was a free taco. I then said, they were right, but that was for a SB, the free Volcano Taco was for a HR.

It was tasty.

Well, Red Lobster is seafood, just not good seafood. Similarly, Taco Bell is Mexican food, and Nickelback is a rock band, and Vicente Padilla is a major league starting pitcher.

It's disappointing that Taco Belldelli was not unable to make this happen.

I think Taco Bell is to Mexican food what Mariah Carey is to pitching

COGS for 5 million tacos = $250.

And John Sterling is a major league baseball announcer.

A quick web search reveals that Taco Bell President Greg Creed is Australian. And yes, cricket is a major sport in Australia.

I'm tired of all these Australians like Greg Creed and Albert Bell taking over major US Corporations.

And yes, cricket is a major sport in Australia.
