Joe Palumbo and his 4,000 calorie shake

Not your typical best shape of his life story. Do not try this at home.

(It’s a NZ paper—anybody making over US$100,000 is a “star.”)

Do not try this at home.
Doesn’t sound that difficult:
The recipe he concocted started with protein power at 650 calories a scoop. "So, two of those," Palumbo said.

And the rest?

"Cyto Carb, creatine, three cups of yoghurt, spinach, one banana, like 10 strawberries, a scoop of ice cream, three tablespoons of peanut butter and two eggs, and a cup of chocolate almond milk," Palumbo said. "And a cup of ice."
A bit short on ice cream for traditionalists.

Palumbo, who made his MLB debut last season, said he added between 20 and 25 pounds (9-11kg). Most of it, if not all of it, is good weight as he combined the extra calories with an intense workout regimen.
I futzed around with this hyper-scientific and incredibly accurate online weight gain calculator that no doubt uses advanced deep learning techniques and other quantum cyber technologies, assuming that Palumbo's listed size (6-1, 168) was accurate back on October 14 when he started this process. If he ate a regular 2,000 calories on top of the 4,000 calorie shake, and assuming that he was the most active that the calculator can manage, then Palumbo should've gained 78 pound in the 110 days of his regimen. Presumably not all of that would be muscle. The shake plus 1000 extra calories would mean a 47 pound weight gain, the shake plus a single chocolate chunk muffin from Starbucks is about 30 pounds.

Something doesn't add up here, and I know that it can't be a random online calculator backed by the awesome power of SCIENCE.
