Major League Baseball umpire Joe West is on track to break Hall of Famer Bill Klem’s record for the most regular-season games by an umpire this week. When West took the field as first base umpire in Monday night’s game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox (STL-CHW GameTracker), he tied Klem’s mark with his 5,375th career MLB game.
Klem umpired in the National League for 37 years before retiring in 1941, and was posthumously inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953.
The 68-year-old West made his MLB debut in 1976 at the age of 23, and plans to retire following the 2021 season. During West’s lengthy career—his 43-year tenure ranks as the longest by an MLB umpire—he spent 23 years umpiring in the National League before he moved to covering the entire league in 2002.

If Jim McMahon is the 3rd one listed...regardless, for literally the first time in his life, there actually will be people at the game to see him. Hopefully he gives them his money's worth.
hahaha
I don't think those are exactly the loving anecdotes you think they are.

Anyhow, not sure if everyone here has seen this before, because:
That link is not a picture of Hawk talking to a soaped up Joe West in the shower.
Hallelujah
Another reason to hate those digital google-ized jukeboxes: no Quality Control.
It's not so much people stopping him as it is them being captured and pulled into orbit by his gravitational field.
Emmylou is a huge baseball fan, specifically a Braves fan. I remember her being incredibly excited when mlb started streaming the radio broadcasts all those years ago, because she was on a tour of Australia and the Far East at the time, and it meant that she could listen to the radio broadcasts. I also saw her in Seattle about 20 years ago, and she had a stage hand who would relay her scores every so often, and she kept us informed on the progress of the Mariners' game.
“Conversations I don’t want to overhear for 2,000, Alex”
Saw her about a decade ago in Salina, KS and she peppered her stage talk with baseball comments. I specifically remember her tongue-in-cheek dissing the AL for not being real baseball.

he tells his doctor the same thing every year
That answers the question as to whether he IS an a@@hole or just plays one on TV.
Another "charming" anecdote.
I've done my best to but the fact that my folks went to church when I was a kid behind me, but isn't that like the very opposite of the parting of the Red Sea?
All this proves, along with the continued existence of Angel Hernandez, is that unions do a great job of never letting terrible performers be fired. Police unions are the best at this which is why we have the problems we have.
The only comparable non - union jobs are Supreme Court justices and university professors. These jobs are the best. No one can fire you! For anything !
You guys are on a roll.
I suggest a little Googling.
They'll need to widen the doorway to shove his fat arse in.
Neither is this.
EDIT: I warned you!
