Lake County News: Man charged in major league identity theft

David Dright, dumpster diving…drilliant!

A 38- year old Chicago man has been arrested in Lake County and charged with the identity theft of more than 20 persons including several major league baseball players. David Dright of the 5200 block of West Chicago Avenue, appeared in Lake County Circuit Court Wednesday, where bond was set at 250 thousand dollars.

Lincolnshire police had initiated the investigation after a 61-year old Lincolnshire man reported than an unknown person had been trying to access his credit card accounts. Investigators determined that Dright was dumpster diving at SFX Baseball in Northbrook, a company of agents who represent baseball players in contract negotiations.

Among the victims were Jim Thome of the Chicago White Sox and Juan Pierre, a former player for the Chicago Cubs.

This explains Pierre's contract with the Dodgers. His identity was stolen and they thought he was Carlos Beltran.

Are there any two players who are less similar than Jim Thome and Juan Pierre?

This seems to be just financial identity theft...but if this guy managed to pick up women by claiming to be Jim Thome, and did it by claiming to be Juan Pierre, I think we will learn something about the intelligence of female Chicago baseball fans.

You'd think that if he was going to use the identity of an MLB plyer it'd be...

Jim Gott and Tim Teufel?

To be fair, if you just heard the name "Juan Pierre" without knowing what he looked like... well, I'm not sure what the hell you'd envision, but it probably wouldn't be what the guy actually looks like.

If you ran that through ZipS, you would get Three-Finger Brown.
