Either way, Tingler is probably toast. Preller never seems to face any accountability when his moves blow up so no reason to expect that to change now.
They (or at least their GM) make the off-season incredibly exciting, by constantly churning the roster and moving parts around. It is as if Preller gets bored riding his bike around in perfect 80 degree weather in December, and he just starts working the phones. I think this is why sports-writers love them so much; the Padres provide good copy when there is nothing else going on in baseball.
Cardinals went on to score five runs that inning, and held on for an 8-7 win that pushed the Pads one step closer to elimination.
