The Mariners will induct Félix Hernández into their hall of fame during the 2023 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Hernández, widely regarded as one of the best pitchers in franchise history, will be the 11th inductee for the club. The ceremony will be held Aug. 12 during a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
Hernández pitched parts of 15 seasons with the Mariners after debuting as a 19-year-old during the 2005 campaign. He was a six-time All-Star, won the 2010 American League Cy Young Award and twice finished second in Cy Young voting.
He went 169-136 with a 3.42 ERA while playing on several terrible teams and should have ended his career with better numbers. Hernández threw the most recent perfect game in baseball on Aug. 15, 2012, against Tampa Bay and for many seasons was the main draw on an underachieving franchise.

1. Walt Davis Posted: January 11, 2023 at 10:44 PM (#6112916)1. I misread the headline as Marlins
2. I then confused Felix Hernanndez with Jose Fernandez
3. I then wondered who in the heck the other 10 players in the Marlins' HoF could be
Still quiz time -- I don't know the answers -- name the other 10 member of the Ms HoF. It just says he's the 11th inductee so I assme owner/exec might be in the list of 10. I assume Griffey, Unit and Edgar are gimmes.
Pat Gillick
Ichiro
Griffey
Randy Johnson
Alvin Davis?
Jay Buhner
Edgar
Lou Piniella
Jamie Moyer
Bruce Bochte?
And I don't think there's anything really arguable about his place in M's history. He's the best. Unit was better overall, but Felix was better in Seattle.
Edit: Davis, Buhner, Edgar, Unit, Griffey Piniella and Moyer are in. I'm not sure who the other three are, since the M's website only lists nine guys. One player, one off-field guy are also in.
That would stand to reason. I don't know why he's not included when you hit Hall of Fame Members on the site?
I was thinking maybe Mark Langston and/or Harold Reynolds but if you don't know who the others are, then it's probably not them.
Is the off-field one Danny Kaye? He was the original owner of the franchise IIRC.

OK, I looked. I probably wouldn't have guessed the remaining player even if you gave me unlimited guesses.
I assume Kyle Seager will be inducted at some point soon.
I just meant that I didn't know exactly which three weren't included, since the team's website only lists nine inductees instead of 10.
The other is an off-field choice, and from what I know, a good selection.
It's a particularly silly brain when the story is referring to Felix Hernandez's impending induction.
Nice editorializing in the article.
But King Felix is an absolute no-brainer for the team HOF.
Man, the Ms are nearly 50 years old. That sort of thing shouldn't be allowed.
Always fun to be reminded that the first-ever MLB player younger than me is retired and going into his team's Hall of Fame.
What history is this? I get him at 26th just among position players.
