Mariners Unveil Nearly $30 Million In Ballpark Improvements For T-Mobile Park

The infrastructure improvements for 2020 will include the continued replacement of roof wheels, painting, plumbing, and other basic infrastructure work; replacement of the ballpark’s original, now 20-year-old sound system; replacing their old, outdated and functionally unsound point-of-sale system to improve the fan experience at concession stands, and; ADA fan improvements.

But the aspects of most interest will be the $9.24 million in fan amenity upgrades for 2020 required by the lease agreement with the PFD…..

To start, the Left Field Gate will be expanded to add 15 additional points of entry for fans and replace the existing Left Field ticket office with a new concession area that will connect to The ‘Pen, the ballparks key standing room-only patio gathering area in centerfield. The addition has been done to improve ingress into the ballpark as things such metal detectors have been added since the ballpark opened two decades ago.

Up at the “Lookout Landing” area that wraps around the outside of the suites and 200 level, the club is creating a new bar and fan/group entertainment space that will be situated above the left field foul pole on the View Level. According to the Mariners, the style of the area is to “remind one of a casual backyard experience” with bench seating and picnic tables. As an additional revenue source, the location will be made available for sale to groups during games. When the space is not booked, it will be open to all fans when not in use for group events.”

I went to one Mariners game this year, and I distinctly noticed that it was quieter than any other stadium in recent memory, much less gratuitous PA system noise. So much for that, I guess.
