The Future Is Now !
need giant caps for this IF.....
but IF deGrom, Scherzer, Bassitt are healthy and in form - absolutely nobody has a better postseason trio, I think
The tracks record is short, but the results since 2018 have been fabulous. 412 IP, 129 ERA+.
He’s not going to be the Mets ace obviously but he’s a helluva number three. He’s aging and figured things out late and doesn’t have overpowering stuff and I wouldn’t want to give him many years but for next year he’s good.
Don’t know how to judge the Mets prospects obviously.
Me neither but if you're only giving up your #2 pitching prospect, you're usually not giving up a lot. You never know of course -- Bassitt was probably somebody's #2 pitching prospect at some point.
I don't know where they ranked him in the Mets' system but mlb.com puts Ginn #4 for the A's but not in the top 100 overall. He had TJS in college but has bounced back nicely obviously and the Mets thought enough to go well over slot to get him. Oller checks in at #19 for the A's.
What the hell ... the A's current #2 prospect is named Max Muncy. It's Jeff D'Amico all over again.
EDIT: I should add that Ginn seems like perfectly standard or better return for 1 year of Bassitt.
In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king.
