Wednesday, October 23, 2019 Who Will Make Hall of Fame From 2019 World Series

.  .  . the most Hall of Famers to play in any World Series was way back in 1932, when 13 eventual inductees played for the Yankees (Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Earle Combs, Bill Dickey, Lefty Gomez, Tony Lazzeri, Herb Pennock, Red Ruffing and Joe Sewell) and the Cubs (Kiki Cuyler, Burleigh Grimes, Gabby Hartnett and Billy Herman). Three other Hall of Famers—Yankees manager Joe McCarthy, Cubs manager Rogers Hornsby (in the Hall as a player) and umpire Bill Klem—were also involved in that Series.

Probably fewer this year, but some worthies.

When were the Braves a great postseason obstacle? FYI, the Yankees won 8 straight World Series games against the Braves when they faced them in 1996 & 1999.
Uh, that 1996 series wasn't any kind of romp for the Yankees. They got smoked in the first two games, took game three, and then came out on top in three straight close, hard-fought games. Overall they still got outscored in that series.

How right you are. All hail the Great Clutch God Jim Leyritz!

On Bolt vs. NFL/whatever aspirations ... there are, what, maybe 3 sprinters who make prettty big money and only one of them makes really big money? No high/long/triple jumpers. You have to commit to trying to become an Olympic champ at a young age with exceptionally long odds and you've got to be the one guy. Even the long odds of the NFL/whatever look better than that. Now if the genie comes to you and says you can either be Bolt or play in the NFL then, sure, choose Bolt.
