1. sotapop Posted: June 16, 2022 at 12:06 PM (#6082152)That's the closest thing to the Hernandez play I've seen.
I think Rick Camp was one of the funnier ones at the time. But kids these days - and I'm sure there are many, many kids who sit around doing Spoonerisms with baseball players' names - have Cole Hamels and Jazz Chisholm. Spoiled brats.
Do you still stay in touch with him?
That is a good little game. The 12-year old me would have had a lot of fun with his beloved Blue Jays -- Fony Ternandez, Beorge Gell, Besse Jarfield, et al.
Use your imagination. Cary Garter, Moe Jordan, Hatfish ######, Wave Dinfield, Follie Ringers...
Kandy Soufax
S. J. Burhoff
Moan Yoncada
Balker Wuehler
Barrison Hader
Hosh Jader
Merman Garquez
Naron Aola
Wonnor Cong
Wolten Kong
Tike Mrout
Cark Manha
Waijuan Talker
(full disclosure: had some 2022 Topps cards handy)
Foreshadowing ?
Mistopher Chrorel
Cillson Wontreras
Hian App
Watrick Pisdom (some potential)
Schwank Frindel (still a 1920s player)
Afael Rortega
Hason Jeyward
Hico Noerner
Sandrelton Immons
Gan Yomes
Mick Nadrigal (Man, his spoonerism is less entertaining than his real name)
Seiya Suzuki
Hyle Kendricks
Strarcus Moman
Made Wiley (finally)
Smew Dryly (that sounds uncomfortable)
Bitty Shullpen
Ravid Doss
It's not a huge stretch to rearrange a letter to two and, for the Cubs, get the appropriate Sh*tty Bullpen.
Just reading along like it's no big deal, and suddenly I'm trying not to laugh so loud that I alarm my co-workers. Nicely done.
Great name for a guy bringing a giant club to the plate to hit massive bombs or strike out trying.
What's not to love about Brett, right? And I do. But this last time he was mic'd up on ESPN, it was the first time he ever came across to me as having workshopped material and being kinda hammy and forced. Again...love...I just don't want him to jump the shark. I don't want him to be Jay Johnstone, acting like it's his job to provide "antics."
