Nationals prospect homers in MLB debut and his parents’ reaction was priceless

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. might be getting all the headlines, but he wasn’t the only top prospect to make an impact in his major league debut on Friday night.

Carter Kieboom, long regarded as a future stalwart on the Washington Nationals infield, received the call ahead of their series opener against the San Diego Padres and provided plenty of fireworks.

For his first MLB hit, Kieboom launched a home run off respected veteran reliever Craig Stammen. The booming eighth-inning blast temporarily tied the game and it sent his parents into a joy-filled frenzy as they watched from the stands.

Yeah, it's up there with Homer King.

I can't believe the Kiebooms showed up the Padres like that. Mom and Dad should have acted like they've been there before. Especially with a cheapie like that, it was barely over the wall.

If I were Stammen, I would put one in their ear.

To be fair, I don't know when Craig would get the chance, with the Kieboom parents not being MLB players and such. Maybe when they get home from work. Like, hide in the bushes, and when they get out of their cars, pop out...and give 'em the old chin music. Would that be assault? Sure, the law might think so, but let's face it, those laws were written before picture in picture and replay and digital dissemination. Don't tell me they didn't know there was a camera on them, give me a break, they're not from Curaçao! What, are you gonna follow, the antiquated written rules of the land, or the unwritten rules of baseball?

Seems like a no-brainer.

Mom and Dad should have acted like they've been there before.

they have been - their son Spencer hit 2 HR for the very same Nationals ballclub way back in ... September 2018.

but 72 OPS+ in 143 PA for the now 28-year-old catcher, who didn't make the Opening Day roster, either.

so maybe the parents see Carter as the cash cow
