Nationals’ World Series celebration takes over Capitals game

It was a party at Capital One Arena on Sunday evening for the World Series-champion Washington Nationals. After a rocking championship parade on Saturday — the first in franchise history — the club continued its victory lap as the Capitals played host to the Calgary Flames.

If there’s anyone who knows a thing or two about marinating in the afterglow of a championship, it’s Alex Ovechkin and his teammates – and they were happy to offer some tips and share in the celebration.

Let’s walk through the gems of the evening, shall we?

Jeff Adams, the Bud Light Hero, who had his own float in the Nationals parade, won the Slap Shot Challenge at the game, entitling him to free Bud Light at any Capitals game he attends. Very fitting, and he seemed quite happy. Can’t wait to see him honored at the next State of the Union Address - given his obvious similarities to Lenny Skutnick.

The Nationals and the Capitals have developed a good relationship. The Caps attended a Nats game with the Stanley cup and were warmly greeted by fans and the team. This was the Caps repaying the favor.

Many of the players seem to genuinely enjoy interacting with players on the other team.

Good for both franchises and good for the city.

And it was pretty dang awesome attending the Caps game last night.

It would be kind of nice for the Wizards to win a title in the near future, then the three franchises can all gang up to mercilessly mock the Redskins and Snyder.

Who would win in a fight, the Caps or the Nationals? Surely the Caps can be expected to be better fighters, but the Nationals can dress 25 players, and the Caps only 20.

In case you haven't seen it, a meme was created for that with the Mystics.

I hadn't, but obviously I approve.

They'd better put three or four guys on Ovechkin alone. Nobody who saw what he did to Andrei Svechnikov is going to want a piece of him one on one, I promise you!

Or NOT, as the case may be!

Depends whether or not Scherzer and Strasburg can hang back and toss things at the Caps heads.
