Nestor Cortes Likely To Be Placed On IL With Shoulder Issue

Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes has a shoulder issue and is likely headed for the 15-day injured list, with Bryan Hoch of MLB.com among those to relay word from manager Aaron Boone (Twitter links). Boone hopes that Cortes will only miss one or two starts but the southpaw is undergoing an MRI to determine the exact nature and severity of the issue.

It’s not clear exactly when the issue arose, though Boone says Cortes has been having issues recovering in between his starts. If the club does indeed have to proceed without Cortes, that would obviously not be ideal, but it would perhaps at least lead to an explanation for his diminished results on the season.

I love it when coaches say "we think he'll only miss a start or two"

"Start" is ManagerSpeak for "month".

They should give the Cards a call about Jordan Montgomery.

Nestor's whole career arc has always mystified me.

sure, the Cards would listen if the Yankees called offering a certain always-injured CF who, like numerous current Cardinals OFs, is on the IL.

that would be a hilarious trade, though.

Perhaps more concerning, Aaron Judge isn’t playing tonight, missing his 2nd game after injuring his right big toe while crashing into the bullpen gate while making a catch at Dodger Stadium on Saturday. No diagnosis released yet, so perhaps it’s just a day-to-day owie.

Jacob Degrom was looking day to day too.

It's unfortunate to hear that Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes is dealing with a shoulder issue and is likely headed for the injured list. Hopefully, it's just a minor setback and he can return to the mound soon. It's important for players to prioritize their health and recovery, especially when it comes to shoulder injuries and also they can check out this blog to get quality work. The team will certainly miss Cortes' contributions, but his well-being should always come first. Wishing Nestor Cortes a speedy recovery and hoping to see him back in action soon.

Man, #7 is not bad. A little too formal, describing him as "Yankees left-hander" was a pretty obvious giveaway, but much of the post isn't quite as telling.

I expected the stellar AI post to be in the (Daniel) Bard thread, not this one.

The specific timeline for when the issue arose is not clear from the information provided. However, if Cortes does have to miss some time due to the injury, among us it may help explain any dip in performance he may have experienced during the season.

Nestor Cortes deserves to be more than a bot-driven marketing gimmick. He started a rehab assignment 2 days ago, and pitched pretty well. Still time for him to contribute down the stretch, or even in the playoffs.
