But it was far from universal. Skenes did receive seven first-place votes. Much like with his teammate, evaluators talked about how Skenes has the chance to be an impact player, and in a hurry.

“Skenes’ stuff can play immediately,” an AL scouting director said.

“It’s a generational college pitcher in Skenes,” an NL national crosschecker said. “Crews’ performance and tools [put him second].”

Everything that I've read suggests that Crews is something special. But in general there seem to be some extremely strong picks at the top of the draft.

If you could trade picks I wonder what a number 1 pick could bring. Would giving up all your picks for a number 1 be worth it ?

My guess is "usually no" but it depends on how top-heavy the draft is. All of your picks for Bryce Harper is probably a good idea. But #1s usually don't have as much promise as that.
