Syndergaard had pitched four scoreless innings in his first outing for St. Lucie, allowing one hit with five strikeouts while throwing 44 pitches.
Mets acting general manager Zack Scott had said Monday that Syndergaard was on track for a mid-June return to the major league rotation.

1. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 31, 2021 at 12:24 PM (#6021657)Who knows if Thor will ever pitch again for the Mets.
Other contributing factors are obvious, but not for nothing was the description "a slowly withering baseball forum" employed just a couple of hours ago in the COVID-19 thread.
What's there to say? It sucks that he won't be back this summer -- and if I had to bet, probably not this season. The Mets have been winning games behind relatively strong pitching and a AAA lineup that occasionally scores a few runs. But they can't keep doing that forever (deGrom, Stroman, and Walker will not finish the season with ERAs of 0.80, 2.47 and 1.84, respectively) so we need to get some guys back from the IL and hitting well. Thor would have been gravy on top of that. The only positive is that the rest of the division also looks fairly weak right now.
My offer to join someone in buying and reviving BBTF still stands. Other person needs to do the computer stuff.
