Clint Frazier’s tenure with the Yankees might have ended after five unfulfilling seasons when New York designated him for assignment on Friday to open a roster spot for a prospect ahead of the winter meeting draft.
Frazier can be claimed by another major league team off waivers. If he is not, he could be assigned outright to the minors, but he would have the right to reject the assignment and become a free agent because he has at least three years of major league service.
Infielders Rougned Odor and Tyler Wade also were designated for assignment.

1. The Yankee Clapper Posted: November 20, 2021 at 11:40 AM (#6053693)Never give up! I thought Moyer was a good young pitcher in 1986 and kept saying that in 87, 88, 89 .... Ten years later, I was proven right! :-)
I like Wade's energy, but his negative hitting can't be overcome by a few late inning baserunning heroics. Just another AAA gem who never could catch up to Major League pitching.
Reduce, but not eliminate
At best, he might be a right handed hitting version of Joey Gallo with the Rangers. At worst, a right handed version of Joey Gallo with the Yankees.
You weren't exactly right, though. He was never a good young pitcher. He was a good old pitcher by that time.
