I've never heard of such a think. Why would anyone recognize that? Just b/c they're close to each other?
nothing says, "peace" "love" and "groovy" like the moat at New Yankee Stadium separating the swells from the unwashed.
:)
You're not much of a Deadhead, are you?
There's an exclusive networking group for Deadheads in the NYC metro area; limited membership, approval required, $300 annual membership fee. It has a fair number of Wall Street types.
All the things Jerry and the dead stood for!
If that is real it sounds like the wankiest of all wanks.
As a card carrying deadhead, they have a huge following among the libertarian right of the political spectrum even today.
Their enduring fanbase is quite amazing. Due in no small part to over 2000 live recordings of their material out there. The Dead brain trust issues a subscription service to four live recordings a year and that's been going on for 20 years. They've issued something like 80 archival releases just in that series of releases.
In addition to that they have one or two other boxed sets released each year. There's probably another 150-200 shows releases in This format. Almost all of them sell out immediately. They are so popular that real gone records is re-issuing them all and those re-issues also sell out.
This all happens even though ALL the same music is available free on internet archive and re-listen.
John Mayer now spends a good portion of his time playing the Jerry Garcia role in Dead and Co each year with three of the remaining members.
Most baseball teams have Grateful Dead night once a year.
The lives of the Dead and every day of their existence is mined endlessly on blogs and in books. There is almost nothing that doesn't get researched in Grateful Dead land
And if you really want to understand the hippiedom that is the Grateful Dead, go listen to the Big Steve Hour on Sirius 23 Dead channel. Steve Parrish was a roadie for both the Dead and The Jerry Garcia band for 25 years. He tells stories each week that are an amazing window into the band the hippie counter-culture movement. I dare you to listen and not smile and laugh at least once every hour. He's an American original.
That's not a very good ratio.
