Salvador Perez with two homeruns tonight.

He's having a heck of year for a not so good team.

Casey mize is not ready for MLB. He's been terrible all year. And he always looks scared on the mound. Jack Morris was saying something about how Mize always wants to be out there and give him the ball and such, but it really doesn't look like it. All season he's looked like he's trying to find a hole to crawl into. I hope they give him some time at AAA to start the year next season.

Rough night for the Nationals against the desperate Phillies, but Juan Soto did have a BB, 2B & HR, putting him at an impressive .352/.486/.703, 1.190 OPS, which leads the League in each category.

This is like the 30th game, give or take, this year the Cubs have gone least the first 4 innings without a hit. Most of them have been against guys with 6+ ERAs.

The Yankees have outscored the Jays 76-57, but only have a 5-4 series lead (going into Thursday's final game between them).

So a 20-1 win from the Jays tonight will even things up.

Kuhl strikes out the Cubs in the side in the 5th, still no hits.

The Cubs are going to score zero runs in the playoffs (they've already clinched, but could still lose the division).
   14. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:06 PM (#5978531)
And we are sure the Cubs didn’t opt out of the remainder of the season?
   15. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:06 PM (#5978532)
Sigh. The Cubs aren’t *not* getting no-hit by Chad Kuhl. And they don’t not have 10 hits in 23 innings against the ####### Pirates.
   16. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:07 PM (#5978534)
Cokes all around, with a healthy spike of rum or whiskey to make the Cubs offense more tolerable.
   17. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:11 PM (#5978538)
And just think how much uglier it would be if Heyward and Happ were having their typical season.
   18. Moses Taylor hashes out the rumpus Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:12 PM (#5978539)
The Pirates, who are hitting .214/.279/.340 as a team, almost have more HRs this series than Cubs have hits (the Cubs shut the Pirates out in the first game of the series).

Pirates are still 2 games up on the race for the #1 seed even after winning the last 2 games.
   19. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:12 PM (#5978540)
Well I was holding out hope maybe they still had a fighting chance. Never mind.

And just think how much uglier it would be if Heyward and Happ were having their typical season.

From BN:
After his blistering hot start to the season, Happ has been – like most of the rest of the lineup – absolutely brutal in September. He homered twice in his first game after the foul-ball-in-the-eyeball thing (September 5), but since then he’s hit just .159/.247/.275 with a 44 wRC+ and a 33.8% K rate.
   21. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:17 PM (#5978545)
I’m trying to not be my typical cynical self!
   22. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 24, 2020 at 03:18 PM (#5978546)
Well at least they won’t be no hit.
