N.Y. Post: JETER HAS YANKEE MATES’ BACKS (RR)

Pist Fump!

Recently, the Yankees Captain has been hit with some misguided criticism that he should come out stronger in his defense of Alex Rodriguez. “What do they want me to say? I don’t get that one,” Jeter told The Post yesterday.

...“You support your teammates, and I have, and I’ve said to the media: ‘Everyone here supports Alex.’ Those were my exact words. It seems like somebody made a story and now everybody is running with it.”

...“Alex doesn’t have a problem with it, I don’t see why all these people writing the stories do . . . I just saw Alex in Las Vegas about a week ago,” Jeter said. “Everything is good.”

Jeter got back, y'all!

"I just saw Alex in Las Vegas about a week ago,” Jeter said. “Everything is good.”

ARod must get a lot of money from old-fashioned pit bosses to come to Vegas and act as a cooler.

That's pretty funny, UCCF.

Just think: if this article came out a couple of weeks ago, Jetes would be AL MVP and all would be right with the world. The Iraqi insurgents would lay down their weapons, link arms, sing Kum-ba-ya, and worship Jesus, as they should have been all along.

Thanks for clearing it all up for us, Mr. Kernan. The debate is officially over!

Hmmph.

If there is anyone consistently behind his team, it's Piazza.

Why do I get this feeling that A-Rod is pretty close to being a degenerate gambler?

I hope he's smartly investing at least some of that pile of cash.

A-Rod's made $150 million so far and he already has $100 million left in his contract plus whatever comes after. He'd have to be a pretty awful gambler to piss away that much scratch!
   9. TVerik - Dr. Velocity Posted: December 04, 2006 at 04:10 PM (#2251290)
If he's smartly investing 1% of his before tax takehome, he'll be just fine. Probably his kids too.

Reminds me of the doofus I met in an airport bar who told me it's a known fact James Jordan was killed over son Michael's gambling debts.

Let me get this straight: you took all the money you made playing baseball and bet it *against* the Harlem Globetrotters?

The game was fixed! The Globetrotters used a ladder for Pete's sake! C'mon! He's just holding out the ball, take it!

Did Jeter really "see" A-Rod in Vegas or was he too busy with Jessica?

"Oh yeah, speedholes."

Why do I get this feeling that A-Rod is pretty close to being a degenerate gambler?

Why do I get this feeling that Joey is an arsonist?

Why do I get this feeling that Jim Furtado is a tax cheat?

Why do I get this feeling that TVErik likes "Full House"?

All of those statements have as much basis in fact.

TVe has always been very open about his love of the Olsen twins and their past forays into the acting world. All the others are news to me though.

hey.

that's a low blow against tverik.

junky article, of course.
   19. TVerik - Dr. Velocity Posted: December 04, 2006 at 04:41 PM (#2251320)
What'd you stick me with the really awful one for, Yeaarrgghhhh?
   20. Yeaarrgghhhh Posted: December 04, 2006 at 04:44 PM (#2251323)
I was torn between "Full House" and the Spice Girls, but Full House seemed like the lower blow.

Make it personal all you want to, son, but I'm not the one who had to warn him to stay away from shady underground gambling venues.

"Kevin Federline appreciation" is my go-to for a smackdown.

So you also think that Jeter has a drinking problem?
   25. Boots Day Posted: December 04, 2006 at 05:14 PM (#2251350)
There was a photo of the two of them at the Scores in Las Vegas on some site that CSTB linked to a week or so ago. The weird thing was, Jeter and Alex were in the same room, not far from each other, but clearly not together.
   26. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: December 04, 2006 at 05:23 PM (#2251363)
That's not so wierd, Boots. Jeter and Alex are on the same team and their positions aren't far from each other, but they're clearly not together.

I see it as a "will they or won't they?" relationship, like Sam and Diane on Cheers.

Greatest one-two combination before Bonds and BALCO. Give that man the latest issue of Gigantic Ass*s magazine!

Poor Derek and Alex. Too close, it's gay jokes. Not close enough, bad teammates. Someone ought to work out a formula for exactly how near each other they should be at crucial moments so that they know

They should be taken away regardless.
