Oakland Athletics officials will visit Southern Nevada next week to explore moving the Major League Baseball club to Las Vegas.
A group headed by A’s president and co-owner Dave Kaval will meet with area government officials over several days, sources confirmed.
The A’s also are said to be lining up a prominent government relations firm to assist in the fact-finding mission.
Las Vegas is one of six cities that have been mentioned as possible suitors for the A’s, who have failed to make satisfactory progress in getting a new ballpark built in Oakland or its surrounding area.
That was the same scenario that resulted in the NFL’s Raiders relocating from Oakland to Las Vegas.

1. Starring Bradley Scotchman as RMc Posted: May 18, 2021 at 10:07 AM (#6019370)When they wake up they find a dangerous and angered Ty Cobb in the bathroom and a know one knows how a crying Carlos Pena was left in the suite.

Here's your money. Now give us Billy Beane back. Who is that?!?!? His name is Billy Bean also?? Classic mixup.
The plan they say is "essential" and "privately funded" is neither. The latter is a particularly egregious lie. If they really, really want to move to a stripmall in the desert with a far smaller population & lower income where their attendance and media revenues will be even weaker than the Coliseum, don't let the door hit ya...
The Coliseum site is vastly superior to Howard Terminal in every way -- except one: it doesn't mimic Pac Bell Park.
Wait a minute -- you took Kaval in because the Oakland A's bankrolled your casino --
because the Molinari Family on the Coast guaranteed his safety. Now -- we're talking
business -- let's talk business...
MOE
Yeah -- let's talk business, Billy. First of all, you're all done. The Oakland A's don't even
have that kind of Sabrmetric advantage anymore. Fisher is sick, right? You're getting chased out of
Oakland by Schaaf and the other politicians -- What do you think is going on here? You
think you can come to my stadium and take over? -- I talked to Sternberg -- I can make a deal
with him, and still keep my stadium!
BEANE
Is that why you slapped my brother around in public?
KAVAL
Aw now that -- that was nothin', Billy. Now -- Now uh Moe didn't mean nothin' by that. Sure
he flies off the handle once in a while, but Moe and me -- we're good friends, right Moe?
Huh?
MOE
I gotta business to run. I gotta kick asses sometimes to make it run right. We had a little
argument, David and I, so I had to straighten him out...
BEANE
You straightened my brother out?
MOE
He was banging beer vendors two at a time! Fans couldn't get a drink in the box seats!
What's wrong with you?
BEANE (collecting his things from the table before he stands)
I leave for Oakland tomorrow -- think about a price
MOE (angry)
Sonofabitch -- Do you know who I am? I'm Moe Greene! I made my bones when you were playing
for the Mets!
"Now here's this guy reading the catcher's sign's and signaling his buddy in the batter's box."
Beane goes to phone. "Operator. This is Mr. B. Get me Armstrong and Friday over in the tunnel right away."
"BJ 19 at second base. Operator. I need Bat Spinning Promo. Now."
Man on laptop is momentarily distracted by in game promo.
Beane: "They never know what hit them. And if, and when, they do find out that they just got zapped by a cattle prod, they wish they really did have a heart attack.
Turns out this guy and his ####### players were stealing signs like this for years."
Ballpark security man: "Cheaters Justice!"
Beane narrating: "I want everyone to know that things were changed around here. We had to make examples of these pricks that the party was over."
Oh, probably the Dodgers.
