HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!
   2. Walt Davis Posted: June 29, 2021 at 06:05 PM (#6026910)
Alas, Mike Trout to the 60-day IL pretty much answers that question for at least the next few weeks.

Kyle Schwarber led off another game with a HR, his 25th. Maybe time to IBB the leadoff hitter? A 1st-inning 2-run Juan Soto HR give the Nationals a 3-0 lead over the Rays.
   4. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 29, 2021 at 07:53 PM (#6026926)
Yankees showing some signs of life. HRs by Gary Sanchez & Aaron Judge, along with a Brett Gardner SF & DJ LeMahieu RBI single gives them a 5-2 lead after 2 innings. More work left to do.
   5. Hombre Brotani Posted: June 29, 2021 at 07:55 PM (#6026927)
The days when Andrew Heaney was seen as a possible #1 seem like a long time ago. It always seems like a miracle when a non-Shohei starter can get into the 5th without getting knocked out. They're all just throwing batting practice.
   6. Hombre Brotani Posted: June 29, 2021 at 07:55 PM (#6026928)
Ohtani, again. #27.
   7. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 08:06 PM (#6026930)
The tied for the AL best record Boston Red Sox are starting a CF with a .143 BA and an OPS .485.

Surely, SURELY, there is a another player in this vast organisation that can do better then that. Surely?

Red Sox still working with their smoke and mirrors, league average starting rotation. Somehow, some way, this team continues to defy logic. Well they can hit, so there is that.
   8. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 08:21 PM (#6026934)
And the Red Sox manage to get another run so far from 3 BB and a sac fly. Not exactly killing it, but hey, it's putting up numbers.
   9. Hombre Brotani Posted: June 29, 2021 at 08:24 PM (#6026935)
3+ IP, 6 runs allowed. Typical Angels starting pitching line.
   10. Hombre Brotani Posted: June 29, 2021 at 08:50 PM (#6026941)
Ohtani, again. #28.
   11. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 29, 2021 at 08:54 PM (#6026943)
Hopefully Ohtani is tiring himself out hitting all these HRs & running around the bases, which might affect his pitching tomorrow. Still 10-5 NYY, so the Yanks may be OK if they can hold Ohtani to solo HRs the rest of the way.
   12. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 09:05 PM (#6026945)
So sox went up 3-2, then down 4-3, then up 5-4, now down 6-5. Every half inning the lead changes. At this rate it'll be like 17-16 after 9....
   13. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 09:07 PM (#6026946)
Apparently the Red Sox have a player named Yacksel Ríos and he's on the bump to try to stem the bleeding.
   14. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 09:43 PM (#6026950)
Sox take lead again, 7-6 in the sixth.
   15. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 09:46 PM (#6026952)
13 runs, 20 hits and only 7 K's so far in the sixth.
   16. Howie Menckel Posted: June 29, 2021 at 10:02 PM (#6026957)
Mets in their last 6 games, Total Runs Scored:

innings 1 thru 6 - 6
innings 7 and later - 15, plus whatever they get after the 7th tonight
   17. My name is Votto, and I love to get Moppo Posted: June 29, 2021 at 10:10 PM (#6026958)
Finalists for NL All-Star 2b:

Ozzie Albies
Adam Frazier, who's having a good year
Gavin Lux, who somehow has accumulated 1.8 WAR despite an 89 OPS+
   18. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 10:37 PM (#6026968)
Marquez working on a no-no, faced 1 over the minimum after 7. On 69! pitches.
   19. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 10:42 PM (#6026970)
Of course Marquez is going all deGrom also with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and an RBI.
   20. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 10:45 PM (#6026972)
Red Sox pen goes 4 2/3, no runs, Sox win 7-6. Smoke and mirrors baby, smoke and mirrors.
   21. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 11:02 PM (#6026977)
some cat hitting a buck .37 gets a hit with 2 outs in the 8th, breaking up the no-no....
   22. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: June 29, 2021 at 11:14 PM (#6026983)
oops, sorry, got it wrong, lost the no-no with no outs in the 9th. Still, dude was hitting .137, how tough an out can he be?
   23. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: June 29, 2021 at 11:48 PM (#6026988)
Cubs have been absolutely miserable with runners on base lately.
   24. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: June 30, 2021 at 12:15 AM (#6026992)

But enough about Yasmani Grandal.
   25. Howie Menckel Posted: June 30, 2021 at 12:53 AM (#6026995)
the Red Sox have clinched the "AL East title after 81 games" crown - as we all knew they would back in March.

kudos also to 81-game titlists Houston, Milwaukee, and San Francisco - another preseason lock, lol.

White Sox and Mets are very close as well.

Dodgers-Padres and A's-Rays in the wild card game.

no soup for NYY, TOR, ATL, CHI, STL and probably CLE, WAS, PHI

Josh Donaldson appeared to yell "it's not sticky anymore," as he crossed home plate after this home run off Lucas Giolito.

Giolito to Sox reporters over Zoom called him a \"####### pest," and said it was a "classless move."
