Blake Snell sure has imploded in June, especially today: knocked out in the 1st inning after issuing four walks, down 4-0.

He's now allowed 15 earned runs in 14 innings over four June starts, and has walked 8 batters in his last 3.2 ip after walking just 20 through his first 13 starts.

Jesus, dude. Do you have the ability to say positive things? He retired the side easily. We are about to put the Rays in a small garbage can and sweep them away with our fifth win in a row, in a game that was Snell vs decrepit CC. Judge is back Friday! CC may get number 250 if he can last 5 (and he's only thrown 24 pitches through 2).

There will always be things to complain about if you want to though, sure.

Snell finished May with a 3.06 ERA over 11 starts. It's now ballooned to 4.40.

Yes. DJ LeMahieu, Gary Sanchez, Luke Voit, Gleyber Torres, Gio Urshela, Cameron Maybin and the bullpen have been awesome. It would be nice if a few of their starters (other than Tanaka) could go more than five innings.

For all the "Yankees have easy schedule" thing, they're about to be 7-2 against the team chasing them, and they're 4-1 against the team behind that, and that's probably the most important set of games.

And by coincidence or whatever, Tanaka's 3 best starts of the year have all been against the Rays, and Paxton's best start by far was against the Red Sox.

Without drawing attention, the Nationals have installed a roof over the ballpark overnight and are actually playing real, live baseball right now. Patrick Corbin started out a bit shaky, but has settled down to hold the Phillies to 1 run on 4 hits. Gerardo Parra made a crazy throw to 3B to put out Bryce Harper by a hair flip. Before that Matt Adams actually beat Harper to the 1B bag in a foot race. No storms on the Sterling, VA RADAR so they just might get this complete game in. Then comes the night half of the double-header at 19:05 tonight.

The Nationals are able to hang on by their fingernails 6-2 over the Phillies in game 1 of this double-header. Noted SABRific manager Dave Martinez warmed up his LHP closer Sean Doolittle not once, but TWICE with a 5-run lead because he wears a belt, suspenders, and SuperGlue just to be extra careful. What could possibly go wrong in game 2 tonight???

I think the Reds are a more worthy 3rd place team than the Cardinals are. My guess is that transition will take place over the next couple of weeks as the Cardinals' starting rotation continues to be terrible and the offense continues to be even worse.

Fernando Tatis continues his impressive season, reaching base twice and scoring twice in the first two innings. If Tatis hadn't missed a month, he'd be the frontrunner for NL RotY, instead of Pete Alonso. As it stands now, it could be a toss-up between the two...

32--Brewcrewball was split on Davies. Half were like great he's doing well but this guy isn't this good so when he starts to suck he's going to suck hard. Other half were convinced that Davies had entered some new level of performance. First half are looking kind of prescient.

Reds have a 40-31 pythag record right now*; 3.5 better than MIL's. I think they're going to be in race most of the summer, if not at least a really annoying pest throughout.

*Both them and the Cubs have been underperforming theirs all year, MIL has been consistently overperforming.

I, and an exclusivie group that appeared to be considerably less than 5,000 fans, was at the game, a make-up of Monday’s rainout. Besides the outcome, among the highlights was the inclusion of “Vandelay Industries, Leaders in Latex” in the groups recognized on the scoreboard.

Oof. With one out and the bases loaded, Angels hit a comebacker to pitcher Derek Law. Law could have started an easy 1-2-3 DP, but turned to try to start a 1-6-3 DP... and throws it into centerfield. Two runs score.

So Trout has a chance to end today leading the AL in: HR, RBI, R, BB, TB, SLG, OBP, OPS, OPS+, WAR. And the most sick part of that? He might have been unlucky so far this season. His BABIP is .301, by far the lowest of his career (ignoring his 2011 cup'o'joe) and well below his .351 career mark. We might be in for quite a ride if his luck can even just revert to normal.

Harrison Bader comes up in the bottom of the 10th with the bases loaded and nobody out, sees three pitches, all out of the strike zone... and whiffs on all three.

Can you think of a worse approach/execution in that situation?

EDIT: And Marcell Ozuna GIDPs to end the inning and send the game to the 11th.

I mean that is pathetic. Don't they have coaches for this kind of stuff? He was also facing a pitcher who had just entered the game... how about taking a freaking strike????

Dan Mclaughlin looks like a genius here.. second and third no outs in the bottom of the tenth inning and he says "you have a lot of options here, like walking DeJong to face Bader who has proven he cannot hit the slider and then facing Fowler who is a very good double play option."....

literally he called the entire future sequence of events while Dejong was walking to the batters box... Intentional walk to Dejong, three pitch strike out to bader all Sliders, and a Fowler double play.

I'm barely paying attention to the game.(I thought it was Wong that was batting instead of Bader also.... the game is on, listening to the prattling, but not really paying any attention... this team is just so uninspiring, it's like they took on the boring personality of their manager)
