SO what do you think?
What I want: Orioles over Marlins
On the NL side I've got Mil and Phillies in round 1. dodgers and Phillies in NLCS and Phillies going to Series
Phillies win World Series in a rematch
Predicting a rematch is boring but so be it
Link:
Marlins Lineup
That kind of surprised me, too, at least at first. I was expecting 1:00, 4:00, 7:00 and 10:00. But upon further reflection, the problem with that is that with 2 East Coast teams and 2 Central Time Zone teams hosting the games, you'd have to have either the Twins or the Brewers begin their game at 9:00 local time. The last time any MLB game was scheduled at 9:00 was during WW2, when the average game took just over 2 hours, with far fewer commercials in between innings.
TEX (J. Montgomery) @ TB (Glasnow)
TOR (Gausman) @ MIN (Lopez)
ARI (Pfaadt) @ MIL (Burnes)
MIA (Luzardo) @ PHI (Wheeler)
My rooting interests:
1. Orioles - great story
2. Rays - respect their organization immensely
3. Rangers - fun team, has never won the WS
4. Brewers - have always liked the team, but this year's version is pretty bland
5. Jays - have some exciting players
6. Dodgers - sure they've won a WS, but have suffered more heartache than needed
7-10. Twins/Dbacks/Marlins/Phillies - no strong opinion on these teams
11. Braves - I live in Atlanta, and am in full backlash mode against the fanbase.
12. Astros - who else? Dusty got his ring, the rest of these guys can f off.
otoh
kent hrbek game
so i don't know how to feel about minnesota.

the comments are close to what i think. i don't hate houston players but i dislike all of the surrounding org. baltimore would be #1 for me with a different owner, i think. tampa and milwaukee are near the top for me, i guess. i do like bochy quite a bit.
Are you telling me that the Rays-Rangers game is blacked out on ABC where you're at?
Or that the later games on ESPN are being blacked out?
Even gamecast is crapping out on me.
Eh, I thought that was the case, but right now I have the Twins game on at work on MLB.TV. Maybe because I'm in Sydney? Is there an exception for this game I'm not aware of?
Though I know for sure I didn't get the playoffs last year and was going to cancel the MBL.tv sub but was too lazy to do it then the this season started and I just kept it.
I would love for the Twins to win it all, or the Brewers, Marlins, maybe Texas. Someone who hasn't won it/not in awhile would be fun.
Now getting the Brewers game, is that also an ESPN thing? As mentioned, last year, MLB.TV turfed me out on the playoffs, so far this year, all good. We'll see in the later rounds....
Dont know whats wrong there, these models are usually not that out of whack
Though I know for sure I didn't get the playoffs last year
Not quite true, at least not in NZ. They gave us the wild card for free. Basically they had always given us the playoffs then ESPN apparently acquired the rights for Aus/NZ. But MLB didn't tell anybody the playoffs were no longer availalbe -- I mean I'm sure it was in a "terms of service have changed, here's the link" somewhere but when you have folks on auto-renew, I wouldn't be suprrised if NZ (maybe Aus) law requires them to do a bit more. Anyway, after "heaps" of complaints, they compromised and "gave" us the wild card round.
I did dump my auto-renewal and didn't renew. But after 4-6 weeks, they gave me a half-price offer. That seemed good enough even for 4.5-5 months of regular season baseball. I assumed that was it but the games are on. Unfortunately a 1-month pass for Sky Sport (which carries ESPN) is a whopping $45. No thanks.
I assume this list of international broadcasters is current. If your country isn't listed, I think you still get it free through MLBtv.
SHRM??
ESPN 90%
Stoll 83%
wotever.
While trying to reproduce the conditions that generated a message talking about allowing international viewing, I suddenly found myself tuned into the Brewers game, so I am not messing with it. Looks real good here in...Seoul. Yeahhhh, that's the ticket!
oooh, I can't remember if I tried to watch WC games last year as I know I got turfed out in the later rounds for sure.
I remember MLB didn't say anything about it last year, I tried to watch a game and thought, well this is f*cked, how cheap can you get?
Happy to watch these games for now, fingers crossed for later rounds being available.
OK then, (all times Eastern time)
NL 1 pm
AL 3 pm
AL 6 pm
NL 8 pm (or 730)
that works, at least you dont have to play at 9am or wotever andy is saying.
I doubt anyone will top Michael A. Taylor's 4.000 OPS in the World Series. Just sayin.
ESPN: 73% home team (obviously)
Stoll: 52.6%
maybe Im missing something.
What are you expecting? They use a different model so they end up with different results. No surprise there.
Hello Bote. No its way off. I was tracking this same stuff last year with the same two models and usually the models are only off by one or two pts. I think maybe 3% max maybe.
We live in the 21st century these run expectancy/WE models are very highly tuned. I think either there's something wrong with maybe the feed I am getting is not keeping up or something wrong at ESPN. They just cant be off that far. no way
Well, that must be very comforting to the betting houses, I'm sure.
Have you worked with any of these models ever? I guarantee if you use another model it will have very similar numbers to what Stull is saying and not ESPN. Unless maybe I am missing something which is always possible.
Thats why Im asking...
i expected a bit more for a postseason game here in philly.
If it was a 1-0 game in the 4th and that happened, change in WE is 12% so the value is worth 1.2 runs.
End of 7th, visitors up by one:
ESPN 57.7%
stoll: 76%
something or someone is off.
EDIT/CORRECTION: ESPN 73.4%
Ok I think I see whats happening the ESPN thing is not updating quickly
a difference of 2.6% like I said these models dont differ by that much.
Now 78.5% nothing has happened.
between bell and burger, they "look" like a baseball team.
let's do it again tomorrow.
Longoria with several good plays.
Some bad baserunning which is death for a below average offense
And then the manager letting Turang hit with no out and bases loaded is just bizarre
Counsell has been a big asset for Crew but he f’d that up majorly
AFAIC no sighting yesterday was as weird as seeing Josh Donaldson in a Brewers uniform, and then seeing him get two hits!
Of course the next time up, in a clutch situation, he grounded into a DP and turned back into a pumpkin. At least he didn't pause in the batter's box while he was waiting for the ball to go over the fence.
Attendance figures for yesterday's games:
Philadelphia: 45,662
Milwaukee: 40,892
Minnesota: 38,450
Tampa Bay: 19,704
Ouch.
I said this in another thread, but the Rays' local TV ratings are quite good. It's not like there's no local *interest* in the team. This isn't Miami.
It's commonly cited that the Trop is just a major pain in the arse to get to/leave from for most metro residents, which helps explain their sucky attendance.
But if the new ballpark is going to be built in more or less the same place, how is this going to fix this issue?
3:08 PM TEX (Eovaldi) @ TB (Eflin), TEX leads 1-0
4:38 PM TOR (Berrios) @ MIN (Gray), MIN leads 1-0
7:08 PM ARI (Gallen) @ MIL (Peralta), ARI leads 1-0
8:08 PM MIA (Garrett) @ PHI (Nola), PHI leads 1-0
2:41
2:40
2:46
3:36 (Snakes & Brewers). Eleven walks in that game.
This is what I don't understand. My impression is that plan for a downtown Tampa location---which makes all kinds of sense---was floated but didn't get any traction. I don't understand why the solution to having a crappy ballpark in a terribly inconvenient location is to build a less-crappy ballpark in the same terribly inconvenient location.
Look at Petco---right in the thick of things, in a similar type of area as downtown Tampa, and it's woven into the fabric of a neighborhood with businesses, hotels, condos, and civic institutions. It's *easy* to get to, and people can spontaneously go to a game without it being a major production. Same with Camden.
He has certainly given Twins fans a reason to believe.
OPS+ of 94 with 21 HR in 129 games is good for Babyface. To say nothing about his 4.000 OPS in the World Series. I await the retraction of your blasphemy.
Eh, I was basing that solely on his last AB he just had facing Romano; he looked terrible. I went the emotional, tiny sample size post. Those are always well received around these parts.
