Replacements so far are minor leaguers RHP Nick Duron and C Rafael Marchan. Also new to the team is LHP Sam Clay, claimed off waivers 10Jul from NYM.
Hombre Brotani
I absolutely support just doing two chats a week, do a weekly chat and a weekend chat, anything else just breaks up the flow of discussion.
As a person who identifies with division, and knowing full and well that the Reds are a non-threat to my team... I'm absolutely rooting for them against any and everybody that doesn't have a Cardinal on their jersey. Add in that I like India... and more power to him/them. I hate sophomore slumps, hopefully he rebounds.
Twin's Joe Ryan is cruising through 5 (1 run on 2 hits), at 70-some pitches, and gets the leadoff batter to start the sixth... and then is pulled.
Does he not go a third time through the lineup? Well, he already got the first two guys out three times, and was yanked before he could face the next guy.
EDIT: Just looked it up, and third time through batters are hitting .225/.269/.388 off him, which is better than the second time through. He's faced 31 batters in the 6th-7th innings this year, and those batters are 2-for-29, with two walks.
He must be hurt or removed for precautionary reasons I guess.
The homers are nice, but lately he's a huge black hole at the top of the lineup.
They fire their manager on the day that he's very likely to start a three game sweep.
Go Reds.... I know they are in our division and all, but they aren't competitive and I'm just never going to be a fan of the Yankees or Dodgers out of pure spitefulness. (I actually don't dislike them, but I'm never going to root for them, unless it's against a divisional competitor in July/August/September. I'm honest about my rooting interest....generally it goes whatever is best for the Cardinals, any pitcher throwing a no-hitter or shutout, anyone facing an Al East team, anyone facing the Mets, and then it's mostly team specific after that. A's, Padres, Angels I root for, while Mariners or Blue Jays I don't have any care type of thing.)
That gives Soto 449 BB for his career, and he’s rapidly moving up the Age-23 Leaderboard:
1. Ted Williams 495 BB (2615 PA)
2. Mel Ott 462 BB (3317 PA)
3. Juan Soto 449 BB (2379 PA)
At his current pace, and barring injury, Soto should pass Ott this month, and Willliams in September. Pretty good company.
MLB.com says Severino left that game with "shoulder tightness." I still think the problem for that Yankees rotation is not that they're going to start pitching badly but that they're all going to get hurt.
Somebody snuck this weekly chatter on me. No objections but a text would have been nice. :-)
Cardinals are doing armed forces cap giveaway, and I looked at the caps and I can't figure out which forces which cap represent. Sadly I think the USMC and Army cap are exactly the same, ugly ass green ones, while the Airforce is probably the cool one that is red white and blue. l
Albert with a single, and is looking much better right now than he did about 10 days ago, he is showing an ability to recognize pitches that I think had disappeared the previous 3 or so years.
Surely my 10/5 veto rights have kicked in by now!
Sorry, I would have told you if I had your email.
I like having a weekly chatter over a daily chatter as I think it leads to longer conversations, so I'm going to continue to support them as much as possible. (actually I like how it had evolved into weekday/weekend chatter so it's long enough for a story or two, but it creates a natural break, except in situations like this weekend where the Cardinals had a four game series with Philly ending on Monday)
To me sharply implies line drive and more often than not a catch in which the centerfielder is going left, right or forward, not back. (or at least not back a lot)
I didn't know it was his pitching night. But yes he's a freak... I think that is part of his appeal... :)
Freeman who is 3 for 3 is up to bat...(7 for 8 in the series)
I guess catcher's interference was getting stale . . .
Over his last 6 starts: 39.2 IP, 20 hits, 10 walks, 58 Ks, 2 earned runs. 0.45 ERA.
July 29th, 2012 Of course the same division. (edit: oops didn't realize that the Red Sox were exactly .500, I was going by the Blue Jays and didn't realize that they were about to flip in the standings)
The Royals put 10 players on the restricted list for not being vaccinated against covid, and therefore unable to easily travel to Canada for KC@TOR.
10 players (and 3 coaches) is by far the largest number of people impacted by the mandates this season.
the Cardinals have done this before - but it was 111 years ago.
apparently it's due to scrambling the schedule to get in the 162 games, so lots of plans went out the window.
$65 M to the lawyers -- nice work if you can get it.
EDIT: d'oh! Already posted for a thread of its own.
