HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

Lindsey Adler

Luis Severino is being helped off the field in Coney Island after what looked like maybe an awkward step on the mound or something. A leg/ankle/lower body issue, not arm. Looked to be in a lot of pain.

The curious case of Akil Baddoo continues:

April: 222/242/571 with 2 BB and 29 K in 66 PA, 1 for 1 in SB
May-June: 271/421/407 with 16 BB and 22 K in 76 PA, 6 for 6 in SB

So he turned from Wily Mo Pena to Tim Raines in just a few days.

Sixty-pitch 5th inning for the Tigers vs. the White Sox. The highlight may have been back-to-back-back four-pitch walks.

Mudcat Grant bites the dust at 85. Another of baseballs great nicknames gone

Angels come back to beat the D-backs. BACK TO .500! They've won 12 of 18, and they're doing it without Mike Trout!
   9. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 12, 2021 at 07:36 PM (#6023942)
Yankees tie 7-7 in the 9th on LeMahieu’s 3-run HR, after falling behind 4-0 in the 1st against the Phillies.

Cardinals walked in another run, they are definitely going for the record.
   12. Walt Davis Posted: June 12, 2021 at 08:15 PM (#6023946)
Barnstorming Cards are going so rough they are struggling against the local 9 from Wrigleyville.

Phillies batting, bottom 10, still 7-7

silly ghost runner on 2nd base, no one out, of course, vs Chapman

the PHI backups today are three lefties and the backup C - good luck vs Chapman, right?

but one of those scrubs is ex-Padres OF Travis Jankowski, who stole 30 bases a couple of years ago. and more importantly, he is one of baseball's last players who..... wait for it... knows how to bunt.

so he does, a good one, and Chapman - not a contender for a Gold Glove - throws high to first. yada yada yada, Phillies win.

so this is going to happen, and if any MLB execs are reading, please give me credit:
:)

it would make sense for teams to have either the backup C or a SP or the "last man in the bullpen" (or two of these) learn how to sacrifice bunt. that way, almost anytime the game goes to the 10th inning, your team likely can get a runner over to third if the pitcher v batter matchup, like this one, is very unfavorable.

who says no?

Standing around for an hour doesn't seem to be agreeing with Hendricks.

SF- WAS with their third nail biter in a row. A series with 1-0, 2-0 and 1-0 is pretty rare. And tomorrow is game 4.

I take it back i thought the second game was over. Now 2-0 SFG

The Blue Jays offence is having a decent weekend at Fenway.

Nationals play 4 games in 3 days, and allow a TOTAL of 3 runs. Without Scherzer or Strasburg contributing.

And they split 2-2.
   18. Hombre Brotani Posted: June 13, 2021 at 06:47 PM (#6024032)
Up 6 runs in the 8th, I wouldn't use Ohtani to pinch-hit. (He struck out.) The last thing I want is for him to get hurt somehow in a game that's likely already over.
   19. The Duke Posted: June 13, 2021 at 06:55 PM (#6024033)
Rodon almost gets another no-hitter. Can’t believe they almost lost this guy. He’s been phenomenal
   20. cardsfanboy Posted: June 13, 2021 at 07:25 PM (#6024035)
Cardinals made it through a first inning without allowing a run or a homerun to Pederson, I'll call that a victory.
   21. phredbird Posted: June 13, 2021 at 08:03 PM (#6024039)

i know there's a lot of season left, but ...

i can barely stand to watch this team anymore ...

Every game in the series was a shutout for one team, except for one ... which was a shutout for both teams, except that since ties aren't allowed, they went to extras and both teams were able to score the free runner. I'd say that pre-2020, that one would have been 1-0, except that it was only a 7 inning regulation game because of the new double header rule.
   23. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 13, 2021 at 08:46 PM (#6024045)
Joe Ross tossed 8 shutout innings for the Nationals today, allowing 5 hits, while striking out 9. Ross has been better than expected this season, except for 2 stinkers when he allowed 10 & 8 earned runs in 4-inning efforts; otherwise he has a 1.82 ERA, although it’s 4.19 when you count everything. A little early to say that he finally turned a corner, but he’s worth watching. # No Jinx.

Cubs on Fox on Sat, ESPN on Sun, Mon and Tues. About time they got some national exposure. :-)

They should just let Arenado play all of the IF positions.

The Red Sox staff has been pretty successful in keeping the ball in the yard which has assisted in them posting a record better than they really are...today, not so much. 8! HRs given up to the Jays.

They should just quit pretending to play baseball.. end the season now.

I hate English, but my god man it's would have or or would've...and yes I'm more frustrated at my team losing than anything.

You mean frustrated "by" your team losing. You're not directing your frustration at your team, you're frustrated by your team.

MLB fans have their own language. We get frustrated at our team, at the umps, at everything! Who would of thought?!
