1. salvomania Posted: May 26, 2022 at 01:58 PM (#6078536)EDIT: Nick Senzel just caught stealing for the second out. He's 0-for-2 stealing this year, and just 18-for-32 in his career. Maybe he's just not a very good basestealer.
That's okay, because the Cubs have just brought Andrelton Simmons in to pitch, who I think is the worst position player pitching I've ever seen. 2 runs scored so far, one out.
Agreed ... I assume Andrelton thinks he's throwing a knuckler but it is not remotely knuckling so it's essentially a softball pitch.
4-game series at Rays starting tonight. It’s early, but the Yankees could cushion their AL East lead considerably with a series win, while a Rays win might indicate it’ll be neck & neck all season long.
A bit too early to write off all the other contenders like the Red S...err, the Blue Jays.
Baseball is a funny game sometimes.

#STLCards manager Oliver Marmol said RHP Dakota Hudson will use PitchCom on Friday in an attempt to help him pick up his pace, especially when runners are on base. Hudson is a ground-ball pitcher and the Cardinals want him to pitch quicker to keep the defense engaged.

Sam Waterson's line from Grace & Frankie: there are 10 great mustaches in the world and that guy is 9 of them.
Ralph Garza Jr is the 3rd Garza to make the majors, all unrelated it seems. I don't recall ever meeting a Garza in real life.
EDIT: After a harmless single, Cortes gets the final out of the inning on a warning track fly to LF. Presumably done at 105 pitches, Game Score 80. 4-0 Yankees heading into the 9th.
EDIT II: Judge’s bases-loaded SF makes it 5-0.
Not quite, but he is up to 38 rbi's, which is pretty good considering he had like 10 2 weeks ago. Amazing what happens when you combine a few dingers with the 3 guys hitting in front of you averaging like .385 OBP. Lots of ducks on the pond to bring around.
In the last 19 days his season line has gone from an MVP-like .290/,355/.754 to .197/.275/.521... which still works out to an OPS+ of around 135.
This is definitely one to file under the "holy sh*t am I old" category as I'm sure many of us were already adults(like proper adults with partners/houses/kids and some of that other stuff) when Andruw and Matt were doing their thing. Thanks Howie for making us all feel a little older.
Wacha works through the 4th, but the pale hose are hitting the ball hard....
Nola is absolutely dominating the Braves - 4-0 lead through 8 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 10 K, just under 100 pitches - so he gets the ball to start the 9th.
one fly out, but then a deeper one gives us the whimsical RF stylings of Castellanos so that's a double.
wait, tying run is not yet on deck - don't bring in Knebel now, it's not quite a SV situation !
Knebel, like any good rank-and-file guy, knows what to do. he allows a groundout to get the runner to 3rd, then tosses a wacky wild pitch to put a run on Nola's line, and allows a walk. that ought to make Girardi think twice next time.
his point now having been made, Knebel closes with a K.
that's Nola's first win since Opening Day, in spite of 4 Quality Starts since then and a 3.56 ERA for the season.
in other news, I don't believe that I am superstitious but... whenever I have a nice lead in my Rotisserie League, I still make a "sacrifice" to the fantasy baseball gods at the trade deadline by acquiring a lame-duck star by sacrificing a possible keeper to the other owner.
in 2004, or was it 2005, that deal was me getting a lame-duck Andruw Jones for a developing Matt Holliday.
if either offspring gets chosen by an NL team, I may be in position to select the son.
and hell, I saw Bobby Bonds play (and his godfather Willie Mays play, too), and in our first farmhand draft, I chose Barry Bonds....
The reliever Banks, is the....world's.....slowest.....worker. He should be fined or something, it's ridiculous.
