1. salvomania Posted: May 17, 2022 at 03:27 PM (#6077199)EDIT: He grounded out, on the 12th pitch of the AB. Could be a significant AB in the first inning of a doubleheader in which both teams will probably need to rely on their bullpens.
UPDATE: Five pitches later, Mikolas is out of the inning with just one run scoring. Seems like a missed opportunity for the Mets.
O'Neil, who had a breakout year in 2021 with 31 homers and a .912 OPS, has had a brutal 2022 so far, entering today at .193/.258/.303, with just 2 homers (one of which came on opening day), and striking out in 33% of his ABs.
I don't run a baseball team and I'm no financial genius, but I think it would be worth $750K to have my team's best hitter the previous year not have to worry about his contract and an arbitration hearing heading into a new season.
The team payroll is $157M, so that $750K would represent an increase of less than one-half of one percent.
Hall of Fame? 7 for 7 so far.
10 All-Star Games, 9 Gold Gloves.
the idea that his WAR or other totals might lead voters to take pause even for a year is nonsense - even if one thinks they should. regardless, they won't.
How'd I do?
"At C" somebody should dig up. Surely Bench and Yogi didn't make it ... I think Simmons probably falls a bit short but wouldn't guarantee it so Fisk maybe; Pudge II surely.
Mauer is over 2000 hits total (but not 1000 RBI) but just 1118 at C.
IRod easily the career leader at 2749. Exclusive club.
EDIT: Those are at C totals, Fisk being the first to break 2000.
4-0-10 last year, and split their first one in 2022 and now shooting for a sweep.
20-11, I think that is, pending tonight's result
Fifth HR for Seager with me in the park this year. In 5 games, though he hit two in one of them and none in another.
Stand-up triple for Dan Vogelbach
Not Semien then? :-)
Rangers bullpen finally coming around? :-)
I'll be here all week ... and until the dementia really sets in.
so they send him out for the 6th with a 10-2 lead - what could go wrong?
