I hold the ignominious pitching record of allowing the most earned runs in a season since 1920; 162!
(hints to follow if you want them)
----------------------------- but I had a winning record that year
---------------------------------------- and after that season, I didn't play MLB the next year, or the next....
------------------------------------------------- my career W-L record was 53 and 34
----------------------------------------------------------- as a coach, I guided some young pitcher named Musial to try a career as a hitter
A hand laceration forces Tim Tebow to the Triple-A injured list. From the Syracuse Post-Standard
There goes the Mets' season down in flames!
Dwight Gooden in jail again ?
Meanwhile, we get stuff like tonight, when he misplayed Yuli Gurriel's line single (unwisely went for the diving catch) into an inside-the-park home run. Astros lead, 2-0 in the second inning.

both came off Chris Paddack, the Padres phenom who trails 2-0 against 2017 AL Wins leader (!) Jason Vargas. JV allowed 1 hit in 6 IP in what could be his Mets swan song
#NOWhowmuchwouldyoupay
Paddack screamed \"####!" into his glove as he reached the dugout, then yelled "I ###### IT UP!" on camera
in comes another phenom, 6-foot-8 Michel Baez. the Padres have tons of these
Eh, long-time player with the Nationals. So long, in fact, that he is the last active player from the Expos era; drafted in 2004, debut in 2007 with the Nats.
Trea Turner has a HR, 3B, 1B. If I see Lance FÜCKING Cormier within a mile of that stadium when Trea comes to bat next, there's gonna be big trouble in the Districk!

first 3-HR game of his career. has 5 RBI in a 5-0 game
Mets announcer Gary Cohen says after first pitch, "Cano now has 319 HR, and he shares that number with an interesting duo." pause for pitch - and..... he has 320 HR.
anyway, the two guys with 319 are Cecil Fielder and Prince Fielder.
guh, walk
they are, but Jim Rice is a third wheel there. Cano was - for about 20 minutes
Edit: Estes did indeed lead the league in earned runs allowed that year, but nowhere close to 162. And he hung around for 4 seasons after that. He finished with 101 wins, so I was close there.
Paddack seems like a crazy horse to me.
he's now a Padres coach, so he got to watch Robinson Cano obliterate his record from a front-railing spot in the dugout.
6-4 in their last ten games, won five games in a row before two losses. Only up on second place by nine games. Can you say free fall, baby!!!
Neither relay throw was good.
But that's just it, Laureano's arm and speed are so good that he takes a bad route or clanks one but then his athleticism makes up for it (or almost makes up for it) and it looks like he's AMAZING. But it's a lot of bad routes, and too much clanking.
5-8
i guess i don't see laureano play enough to see the bad routes or clanking and he gets all those highlights
guys, it's Wade Miley, not 1986 Mike Scott. so he walks the leadoff batter, then allows a single.
in comes Osuna for that 3-run dinger.
it's all good, though - the dugout is happy because the manager thinks Miley is all that.
I assume you saw the inside the parker from today? He had no chance ever of catching that ball, it was very poorly played.
laser seriously misplayed that ball. i don't understand why on earth those obvious effups are never called errors because that was a REALLY BAD misplay
Laureano's shot down the LF line stopped right under the fence padding in the corner, OF didn't hesitate to grab it & throw it... but somehow it's ruled a ground-rule double, and Canha is sent back to third. A's just up one run now.
Twins 8, Sir Didi 7 (+3 makes 10)
He might have tweaked something running through the bag.
Yeesh.
[edit] Slo-mo shows he turned his right ankle when it hit the bag.

10-11 Twinkies
No.
What?
No.
12-11!!!
Meanwhile the Twins PA is pumping the OONTZ at maximum decibels ...
The heat death of the Sun will occur before Boone-y would pull him.
Free baseball!
Twins 9-5 thru 5
Yankees 10-9 after top of the 8th
Twins 11-10 after bottom of the 8th
Yankees 12-11 after top of the 9th
12-12 after bottom of the 9th
Yankees 14-12 after top of 10th
I mentioned 4 or 5 years ago here that Chapman is one of many hard-throwing closers who - if a batter takes every pitch - most often will get to 4 balls before 3 strikes. and given how difficult they are to hit, why swing?
yet the Twins swung at several balls against an obviously pitiful Chapman (he walked the bases loaded with 0 out). I know chicks dig the longball - but I think they also dig their team winning the game.
WP!!!
14-12!
Un-#######-real.
TWO WALKS, AH-HAH-HAH!
Punches self in face.
C'mon, one more and we can all hit the showers and pound some Budweisers.
THREE WALKS!!
A-HAH-HAH!!!
Drinks paint thinner, lights self on fire, punches self in face, throws self down stairs ...
UN-#######-REAL.
WHAT A GAME!
I have always seen his visage as that of a future serial killer.
is it possible that.... the dead-eye stare makes us wonder
I've always thought he reminded me of Munch's "The Scream", so ... maybe.
Well it really wasn't a great catch. It was a good catch. Any good CF could have made that catch. There was nothing special about it...
Nice try, but the left hand can't know what the right hand is doing.
Further hints:
The year was 1921.
The man in question was a World Series hero of sorts just a couple of years before.
He really did say hey Stan the Man, you could probably be a good MLB hitter if you concentrated on that everyday.
