HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

Watching the Jays home opener - because, what else are you gonna do in August? And apparently the visiting clubhouse/locker room is set up in tents in the parking lot, and the washrooms & showers are the ones that were going to be used in the Field of Dreams game in Dyersville.

Edit: Also, this game featured Joe Panik, designated hitter.

The verdict is in - Aaron Judge solo HR to right-center (432 feet) gives the Yankees a 7-0 lead over the Braves. That’s #9 for Judge. Luke Voit had a 3-run HR earlier.

With his 2 for 2 so far tonight, Charlie Blackmon is hitting an even .500 at 33 for 66.

Yankees' 8-0 lead is now 9-6

Scherzer tossed 60 pitches in the first 2 IP vs Mets, who of course left 5 men on because they comfortably lead MLB in that category. yet Mad Max somehow completed 6 IP of 1-run ball when he still isn't 100 pct. what a magnificent beast he is.

If you get a chance to see Votto's game winning RBI in the 10th, please watch the absolutely mess Brett Phillips makes of tracking the ball.

Can I quit hearing about how Brett Phillips a good outfielder? This is a common thing you'll hear from Royals fans. He's fast enough, but he's the worst outfielder at tracking a fly balls I've seen since Nori Aoki. At least Rex Hudler called him on it tonight, and didn't' act like it was a tough play or something. Rex will probably get yelled at for that, and you'll hear him talking about what a wonderful outfielder Phillips is in the next game.

Has anyone else noticed that Dusty is wearing “Baker Jr.” on the back of his uniform? Looking it up, he is indeed Johnnie B. Baker Jr., but it’s kind of odd that he would put it on his jersey for the first time now. Wonder why.

...Google and ye shall find. Dusty added the Jr. for his self-proclaimed “last hurrah” to pay tribute to his family, and particularly his dad who passed 10 years ago. Tip of the cap for that.

it is a nice gesture, but will confuse many.

BITD Dennis Scott of the Orlando Magic got a tattoo that 100 pct seemed to be a rendering of himself on his own arm. ?

turns out it was in memory of his father, and he apparently was the "spitting image" of him.

That’s a feature, not a bug. The ‘Jr.’ should insulate Dusty from age discrimination by giving folks the impression that it must be the son of the guy who managed way back in the 1990s.

Who wants to feel old today?

Remember Dusty's little kid being scooped up near home plate by J.T. Snow in the world series?

Darren Baker has his own BBref page. Yeah, that's really him, and he actually earned it, not a novelty page as he is/was a legit college player.

I saw Dusty Baker play when he was with the Braves, so I feel particularly ancient today.

bb-ref not only has college stats, but Cape Cod League stats?? Wow.

Darren Baker is a real throw back style hitter huh? .041 ISO, 30 for 33 in steals in college.
