HOW WILL THE ANGELS WIN OR LOSE TODAY?!

Why did Bryant leave the game?
   3. JJ1986 Posted: June 15, 2021 at 08:16 PM (#6024347)
He was hit in the hand.

Had the great pleasure of being at CitiField last night for David Peterson pitching the game of his life. Fun to see all the 2 out runs the Mets scored, seemed like they could not do that at all for a good long stretch. Feel like they can hang on until the injured list starts finally thinning out
   5. The Duke Posted: June 15, 2021 at 09:51 PM (#6024367)
So we have Cole, glasnow and wainwright all basically admitting to some form of substance use. Hard to argue with MLB “doing something”

Tha was not a good send by the Cubs there.
   7. Howie Menckel Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:24 PM (#6024379)
Mets announcer Ron Darling giving birth to numerous kittens as he shits on the Cubs' third-base coach for a "terrible" send of Marasnick.

was runner on 2nd, one out, then a single that does not go into the gap.

Darling on the one hand wonders if the Cubs know that relay man Guillorme has a rocket arm, then says it wouldn't matter who the relay man was - cannot do that with one out. runner was out my a mile, and the Mets soon win another one of another gem by TWalker and a 6-out SV for recently-activated Seth Lugo.

Verdugo with the 3 run shot, Sox now ahead 10-7 in what could be evidence of our new post sticky substance world!

Bellinger back to DL. Will the last player standing on sept 30 please turn out the stadium lights

top 3, 7:3 d-backs... wtf happened ?
   11. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:41 PM (#6024392)
Buster Posey has to do something !
   12. The Duke Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:42 PM (#6024393)
Braves simply can’t get the pitching they need to break through .500. Ten runs given up tonight
   13. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:42 PM (#6024394)
was runner on 2nd, one out, then a single that does not go into the gap.

The runner was actually on first. The Cubs would have had men on first and third with one out and only down one run.
   14. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:43 PM (#6024395)
Buster Posey on deck, so Yaz has to get on base.
   15. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:47 PM (#6024398)
Young vs. Posey , such irony.
   16. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:47 PM (#6024399)
And of course Posey loops one into CF
   17. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:49 PM (#6024400)
Crawford vs. lefties is like a turkey getting pardoned by the US president.

Very rare.
   18. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:50 PM (#6024401)
Easy DP.
   19. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:56 PM (#6024404)
As a Giants fan, I can say this : I don't like Crawford and Belt anymore.
   20. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 10:58 PM (#6024406)
Crawford still good @defense , both mediocre @offense. @Change !
   21. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:02 PM (#6024409)
Of course, Belt flares one into CF.

Now we need a HR , Baby !
   25. The Duke Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:09 PM (#6024420)
Shildt bunts twice in the 8th, the second one turns into DP. Mattingly sees this and bunts his team out of the inning in the top of the 9th.

It’s amazing to watch managers just blindly following traditional baseball strategy in the face of evidence that suggests it doesn’t work very well.
   26. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:10 PM (#6024422)
Bad ump.

You just never learned how to bunt, imho.
   28. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:14 PM (#6024425)
Giants down 5 runs, this thang is over, maybe.
   29. Never Give an Inge (Dave) Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:18 PM (#6024428)
I know I'm a bit late on this but that send of Marisnick in the Mets-Cubs game was just terrible. The Mets crew initially thought he must have ignored a hold sign.
   30. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:23 PM (#6024429)
Yaz it !
   31. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:23 PM (#6024430)

John Ourand
@Ourand_SBJ
The last time the Orioles won a road game was May 5, when John Means no-hit the Mariners. That's 16 straight road losses over 41 days.

............

(Orioles lost another road game tonight, too. Diamondbacks have lost 20 in a row on the road since April 25, and the Rockies are 5-27 on the road in 2021. Dbacks lead 8-3 in the 5th tonight - but with their bullpen, this game is a tossup. Rockies are home).

I thought the send on marisnick was fine. Either of those throws is a bit off and he scores. I’m always a fan of sending the runner - major league hitters are hitting .250. Gotta try to score when you can
   40. The Duke Posted: June 15, 2021 at 11:41 PM (#6024445)
My all - time favorite vote of confidence quote:

Asked if he is sure Aaron Boone is the right manager for the #Yankees, Brian Cashman said: "We made this bed and we are going to sleep in it. We are in this together."
   41. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: June 16, 2021 at 12:07 AM (#6024451)
The thing is there was only one out when when the they sent the runner.
   42. Howie Menckel Posted: June 16, 2021 at 12:31 AM (#6024455)
and as Darling noted, Guillorme - while a nondescript player overall - has a rocket arm. Cubs have to know that. and Marisnick already has turned 30.

there are times to roll the dice - that was not one of them.

as for the Yankees, veteran baseball beat writer Bob Klapisch basically said a few weeks ago that there is zero chance that either Cashman or Boone get fired before October - and maybe not even then. NYY thinks they are smarter than the average bear, and mediocre results won't change that.

interesting - for once - pre-game comment by Boone today. he said that while the overaggressive baserunning blunders have been well-chronicled, what has gone unnoticed in recent weeks is that his squad often had a chance to take an extra base but became overcautious as the result of previous blunders. he suggested that has cost them games.

clearly the whole is less than the sum of its parts with them, so I found it interesting. they did rally from down tonight vs TOR to win 6-5 so there's that.

Diamondbacks have lost 20 in a row on the road since April 25.... Dbacks lead 8-3 in the 5th tonight - but with their bullpen, this game is a tossup.

not anymore - a 2-out grand slam by Yaz the grandson makes it 9-8 Giants after 8 innings.
