I estimate only 10-12 Primates care about the NBA, none of whom can be bothered to curate their own thread to avoid detracting from what this site is really about: Kyler Murray and how the Galactic Empire did nothing wrong.

Now, I remember well the series a few years back where the Spurs beat Houston, even though Houston rolled the Spurs in game one and the narrative was how can the Spurs score/hang with the Rockets. But I do worry about how they are going to be able to score enough to stay in the series.
Also, Detroit without Blake is a special level of awful. Luke Kennard was probably their best player yesterday.
The end of the OKC/Portland game was fun. OKC just couldn't make a shot to save their life.

Rooting interest goes something like MIL, TOR, POR, GSW....BOS. I actually wouldn't be opposed to HOU making the Finals, though I know I'd hate watching it when it's going on.

Since it came up a couple of times:
I had the same reaction. Capela is so athletic that trying to shade Harden is giving him tons of room to operate rolling to the basket.
I wasn't online yesterday, but this had to be Kanter, right?
he power dribbled into a gather about 30' away from the rim.
then he galloped into a jump stop...which is a travel on its own.
then he took 3 steps...which is also a travel.
he dribbled the ball once. his pivot foot moved 3 times. his non-pivot foot moved 6 times.
6 steps.
1 dribble.
that's a travel.
Only the main shot and no replays. It really does look like there's no way it's not a travel from that angle.
The funniest part was that this call was apparently one of the few the officials got right in the last 2 minutes.
Kurucs and Dinwiddie is also a fun combination.
Tobias Harris looks lost in this offense. The Dunc'd on Podcasters talked about how he's such a good player, but his skills are redundant on this team. He doesn't get the ball, he isn't a primary option, he doesn't get space. He's just a spot-up shooter for these guys, and he's not hitting any shots.
we need more african american referees.
we need more european referees.
we need more african-african referees.
we need more female referees.
you shitty little white men, the quota for you has been filled.
If this reasoning is applied to the thread, then I will be stepping back.
On this site, we will also consider not being a libertarian and/or lawyer.
ADDENDUM: Here it is. Owwwwwwww.
since matt barnes hit us with:
i am not a doctor, but i'm gonna recommend amputation.
That was a historic collapse. Well, on to LA.
This is an all-timer, right?
It may be the biggest playoff comeback ever in terms of deficit overcome (don't know) and given that it was an 8 seed on the road against a 1 seed, and a 1 seed that is one of the two or three greatest one-group-of-guys dynasties in NBA history, I would guess that it was the single most unlikely playoff win by any team in the history of the league.
the Warriors, not so much.
and that is not to ignore great credit to the Clippers for fighting like few teams would have for what the Warriors would ultimately hand them. but they needed a willing accomplice - and got one.
would be a class move for the Warriors to refund the astronomical playoff ticket costs they charged tonight for a team that failed to care. losing is tough but acceptable. not giving a #### is a disgrace. will the Warriors acknowledge that? I am not hopeful.
the greatest comebacks in NBA playoff history are confined to beating the favorites who gave a #### about the game but lost anyway.
in other news, get off my lawn.
but sometimes, people really should get off a lawn.
I am sure they will get right on that, right after sports writers start giving back paychecks for columns they mailed in.
Also, I think your analysis is actually totally off. This wasn't about not giving a shit. It was about hubris. You don't get up 31 points to begin with, if you don't give a ####. They thought they were invincible, and switched into cruise control. Then when things started getting tight, couldn't get back into gear.
Further, one of their issues was Curry getting into foul trouble, mostly contending balls he probably shouldn't have gone after. If anything, that is a sign of giving too much of a shit, and not about not caring enough.
Finally, I think that is really disrespectful of the Clippers, who put in an amazing effort, and an amazing performance, to pull this off.
In other news, I will be along later, to pour gasoline on your lawn, and set it on fire.
Good to see your cranky, out of touch sportswriter takes didn't die when you stopped writing about sports.
On a related note, my hourly rate is pretty high, and I'll be billing you for the time spent on your weaksauce posts.
Like STIGGLES's "shitty little white guys" thing, I hope this doesn't become thread policy.
And?
I understand the frankness, but think I do philosophically disagree with the idea that there should be a different standard in the playoffs. Context obviously matters, but certain types of calls should always be the same, IMO.
"that is a sign of giving too much of a ####, and not about not caring enough."
Curry and the Warriors could stand in the middle of Market Street and shoot somebody and they wouldn’t lose any supporters, okay? It’s like, incredible.
.................
"that is not to ignore great credit to the Clippers for fighting like few teams would have for what the Warriors would ultimately hand them."
and yet we have this:
"I think that is really disrespectful of the Clippers, who put in an amazing effort, and an amazing performance, to pull this off."
..................
The Warriors should win the series anyway, even without Cousins, and the deification process can resume. but you aren't obligated to look at a bowel movement and call it a delicacy. or at least, you shouldn't be.
I laughed.
Three days in...the first round is off to a really fun start.
Everyone poops.
It's certainly more competitive than a lot of us thought it would be, though I suspect the Sixers and maybe some others than split the opening 2 will still close things out in 5.
I'm kind of worried about the Raptors and their fans, though. If they don't come out and win easily tonight it could get ugly.
With the Leafs up 2-1, nobody in the GTA even remembers that the Barneys are in the playoffs.
This is bull. The Warriors have already lost a ton of supporters. Obviously they have their actual core of lifelong supporters, that will never leave them, as every team does (except the Miami Marlins). But the bandwagon that started up when the splash brothers began, is already a lot emptier than at its peak.
They lost a ton of supporters when Durant signed (the same way LeBron lost a lot of supporters when he teamed up wit Wade and Bosh in Miami). They lost more when Cousins came on board. And they have bled supporters from general Warriors fatigue, the way that happens to all dynasties.
This is just lip service. You can't go on a huge rant that diminishes the Clippers performance and effort, and then say "of course that should not take away..." All you were doing was taking away. Heck, even in that that speck of lip service, you are taking away credit from the Clippers, by saying the Warriors handed it to them.
It's the equivalent of somebody saying: "I don't mean to be offensive (or rude, or whatever), but..." You know what follows is going to be offensive. You can throw out everything before the "but." As a writer, you should really be aware of how these rhetorical devices work.
Also nonsense. Nobody said the Warriors were great in that game. Just that your "they don't care" analysis is the turd in the punch bowl here.
And I know it is complete nonsense, because I am rooting for the Clippers. My team has a chance of making the finals in the East (at least theoretically). and it would be great for me if somebody knocked them off. I have no allegiance to the Warriors, I am not rooting for them, I just call them as I see them. But to disagree with your yelling and shaking your fist at the clouds routine, means to automatically be branded as a Warriors fanboy.
What did I say about everything that comes before the "but"?
Good... Let the hate flow through you.
The technicals on Durant ad injury to Cousins don't help either.
