Trailing 10-9 in the fourth, Pitt faces 4th-and-goal from the one. Narduzzi takes an intentional delay penalty, then kicks a field goal.

13-12 final would serve him right.

so this oklahoma loss is pretty much a carbon copy of ohio state's loss to purdue last year, right?
   303. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: October 26, 2019 at 02:51 PM (#5894913)
This is very quickly becoming a disqualifying Ohio State-Iowa debacle for Oklahoma.

also, minnesota now has 2 games in hand over the rest of the B1G west...however, they still have games vs. penn state, wisconsin and @iowa, so they could plausibly lose 3 of their last 4 and (thankfully) blow the opportunity.

13-12 final would serve him right.

Or, in the event of a complete inability to tackle, 16-12.
   306. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: October 26, 2019 at 03:37 PM (#5894921)
K-State did everything it could to blow that.

They sure tried. Pretty crazy game. will be fun in the little Apple. Where's our K-State fan? hopefully at the game.

it's legitimately impressive how committed this coward is to being the biggest ####### coward in college football.

michigan and notre dame announced a home and home series for 2033 and 2034...meaning that there will be players in that game who are not even in kindergarten right now.
   310. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: October 26, 2019 at 05:04 PM (#5894934)
Why in the world would you go for two when leading 19-3?

Why in the world would you go for two when leading 19-3?
doesn't the math say that you should go for 2 in all situations?
   312. Cowboy Popup Posted: October 26, 2019 at 06:48 PM (#5894942)
LSU-Auburn feels over. And now a bad snap has Auburn at 2nd and 30...
   313. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: October 26, 2019 at 07:18 PM (#5894945)
Duke, trailing 20-17 in the final 20 seconds, has 1st-and-goal from the two and runs a halfback jump pass that gets intercepted to clinch the game for North Carolina.

This, after UNC had fumbled the ball at the one on the other end and committed a facemask while stuffing a Duke fourth down to keep the game alive.
   314. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: October 26, 2019 at 07:32 PM (#5894948)
It's absurd that the clock continues running coming off an offensive penalty.

It's absurd that the clock continues running coming off an offensive penalty.

uh....if it didn't, then offensive penalties would, effectively, become timeouts.

many Penn State players clearly have fathers who were mudders and mothers who were mudders, based on how they smacked Michigan State.

Notre Dame? not so much - and not very Irish of them not to embrace the suffering opportunity presented by this monsoon at Michigan.

nah; michigan state quit on the game.

michigan, otoh, has plenty of mudders. a 41:6 run:pass ratio just about means they're running a service academy offense.

also, notre dame isn't very good. i mean, most teams aren't very good, but that one, especially, is perennially overrated.
   318. never forget: the pee tape is 57i66135 Posted: October 26, 2019 at 10:03 PM (#5895036)
and michigan fans are throwing trash on the field.

I realize he just threw a TD but Shea Patterson is not impressive. Really seems to think he is more athletic than he is.
   320. never forget: the pee tape is 57i66135 Posted: October 26, 2019 at 10:16 PM (#5895045)
nah; michigan state quit on the game.
on a related note, their recruiting class is just barren. only 1 OL (who's only 270 lbs), a bunch of undersized DL/LBs, and they're losing recruits to northwestern, indiana, miami-oh, and northern illinois.

if michigan state still has any administrators who aren't in prison for ignoring and covering up decades of sexual assault allegations, i'd advise them to fire this clown ###### right about now-ish.

Kansas wins! Walk off field goal!
   322. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: October 26, 2019 at 10:36 PM (#5895056)
Texas Tech gifted that one. Two games tonight yielded new life for the kicking team, immediately following a block. Mich w the punt and KU on the kick.

You know, flip a few key plays and Kansas could be 6-2 right now.

this week is kinda huge for the B1G. undefeated #6 penn state @ michigan state (MSU has won 5 of the last 6 games against penn state); wisconsin @ undefeated #3 ohio state (wisconsin coming off an embarrassing loss and this will be tosu's first game against a legitimately good team); one-loss notre dame @ two-loss michigan (this one's just kind of important for cross-conference comparisons. georgia beat UND, so if UND beats michigan, that puts a significant dent in the B1G's whatever the football equivalent of RPI is).
3 for 3 for the B1G. this has been a (rare) good week.
   325. never forget: the pee tape is 57i66135 Posted: October 26, 2019 at 10:52 PM (#5895069)
here are some non-conference matchups i'd like to see instead of "cupcake saturday":

notre dame vs. florida
oregon vs. ohio state
penn state vs. clemson
minnesota vs. utah
georgia vs. cincinnati
baylor vs. alabama
oklahoma vs. lsu
texas vs. michigan
auburn vs. iowa
smu vs. wisconsin
   326. never forget: the pee tape is 57i66135 Posted: October 26, 2019 at 10:53 PM (#5895072)
also:

clemson vs. wofford.
   327. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: October 26, 2019 at 10:55 PM (#5895073)
Texas Tech gifted that one.

We need a stronger term for this; something people don't say when games are decided by routine mistakes like fumbles and blown coverages. This was Fred Brown passing the ball to James Worthy.

Nebraska, which was ranked coming into the season, lost at home to Indiana today.
   329. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: October 26, 2019 at 11:02 PM (#5895081)
That's 6-2 Indiana.
   330. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: October 27, 2019 at 01:38 AM (#5895100)
Nebraska has performed to my (nearly) expectations (as a N alum). Little depth, not good OL, and the lack of depth has shown, with back up QBs, missing skilled guys that they have and a lousy kicking game. I'm not sure why they were ranked. Riley's recruiting was abysmal, and while I'm sure they have passed the bottoming out period, they still have big deficits in talent, just about each week. W'andale is a really nice Fr. Nice win by IU though, well earned. Now if Nebraska can't manage to beat Purdue and Maryland, then they have taken no steps fwd in year two.

quick question:

why do poll voters continue to think florida is not terrible? i get that they have one loss, but so do georgia and oklahoma, and both of those teams are clearly better than florida, right. sure, this will get solved next week when florida loses to georgia (or somehow beats them, thereby retroactively earning their ranking), but this kind of nonsense does not inspire confidence.
   333. never forget: the pee tape is 57i66135 Posted: October 27, 2019 at 02:39 PM (#5895152)
oregon scrapes past 4-4 wazzou...moves up 4 spots in the AP poll. apparently, they're better than georgia and oklahoma...by some measure, i guess. i can't imagine what measure that is, since all of these teams have the same record, oregon hasn't beaten anyone in the top 25, and they've looked pretty mediocre most of the year against suspect competition.

but anyway...at least penn state only has to win 2 road games against unbeaten teams in order to have a chance to make the playoff. i'm sure clemson's schedule is just as brutal.

Is beating Minnesota supposed to be impressive?

also: no, it's not. but neither is beating auburn or florida, so this line of discussion is pretty weak.

whether or not minnesota is legitimately good, they're capable of beating a top 5 team. can you honestly say the same about, say, illinois? or kansas state? or south carolina?

FL beat Auburn, GA beat ND. FL lost at LSU, GA at SC. Obviously there is more to team quality that just that, but that's advantage FL. But this Saturday will be the proof.

Duke, trailing 20-17 in the final 20 seconds, has 1st-and-goal from the two and runs a halfback jump pass that gets intercepted to clinch the game for North Carolina.
UNC's season so far:

- Beat South Carolina by 4 after intercepting the ball on their own 26 with under a minute left.
- Beat Miami by 3 after scoring a touchdown with 1:01 left and blocking a field goat attempt with under 10 seconds left
- Lost to Wake by 6 after screwing up time management while attempting a long drive at the end of the game
- Lost to Appalachian State by 3 after having a field goal block at the end of the game
- Lost to Clemson by 1 after failing on a late two point conversion and then not recoving the Platonic onside kick
- Beat Georgia Tech comfortably
- Lost to Va Tech in 6 overtimes (the first game to use the new rule stipulating alternating 2 point conversions starting in the 5th OT)
- Beat Duke

All of their games but one have been decided in the final minute. They're 4-4, but with a handful of different plays they could be anywhere from 1-7 to 8-0. (Though maybe Wake game is a stretch.) That ultimately means that 4-4 is probably a fair record, but getting there has been absolutely nuts.

You make it sound like Will Muschamp is coaching them, too.

Baylor muffs a punt leading by three in the final five minutes, its defense holds, West Virginia's tying 43-yard field goal is nullified by a delay of game, and the second try gets blocked.

Then, with 2:12 left and the booth extolling the virtues of running into the line and giving West Virginia the ball with two minutes and a timeout left, Baylor hits a 50-yard bomb on third down. Three runs and a punt to the five with 38 seconds left, and that was basically that.
