I don't often flop, but I thought I'd give Sean and FBref top-page billing. They are working with statsbomb to provide xG numbers now. This is especially nice as the xG (as I understand it) is calculated a bit different than is done for 538/understat.

Current EPL table.

edit: one quick note. The table above includes penalties (see ManU's 9.7 xG) whereas statsbomb's articles usually don't. It could be worth listing both (understat allows this if you apply the filters).

That's great. Thanks.

Odds have really moved towards United: Now 43%/27% (30% draw). My guess is people know the starting lineups.

edit: Rashford/Pogba in. AWB/Martial out (not on the bench).

Saka/Chambers in. Ceballos on the bench. Maitland-Niles out.

edit2: the current odds are more or less saying that the teams are expected to be even strength except for HFA. Arsenal was considered the better team coming into the year by a smallish margin.

NWSL playoffs are just about set. North Carolina and Chicago have locked up the top two spots and will host the semifinals on October 20. The Reign beat Portland in the Cascadia rivalry match this weekend to secure their own playoff spot, and they still have the potential to catch Portland and take third place. That would be my preference as a neutral since it would ensure we don't end up with a third consecutive North Carolina-Portland final.

Chicago have made the playoffs five straight years, but have yet to actually win a playoff game. This could very well be the year. They've been extremely good for the past couple months--finally playing up to the ability of their component parts. And this may be their last year with Sam Kerr, so they better strike while the iron is hot.

Pretty sloppy game so far. Some of it comes down to the weather, but still.

Correctly ruled just a foul in favor of Manchester United, despite some initial confusion. Even the ref seems a little sloppy today.

Going to be an upset if this one ends 11 vs 11.

Well, that's why they leave the flag down in other leagues. They should be leaving it down if they are not going to stop play,

Refs missing corner calls right and left. One each way both on the Arsenal end.

Probably a fair result. I'd guess United had the slightly better of the xG and non-shot xG, but not by enough to merit a win.

edit: nope. Arsenal must have had a big chance I didn't see (missed the first 15 minutes and the first few minutes of the second half). They had the better of xG. non-shot xG was even.

Auba seems to say he heard a whistle on his goal. hehe. I don't think there was one actually... he may have been responding to the crowd.
