Boy, they really need to pay these minor leaguers more so they don't have to get side work!

Good for the homeowner. Nix is lucky the guy pulled a taser not a shotgun.

I read that as "Pedroia home" and thought the Padres-Red Sox rivalry was more intense than I'd heard.

Yeah, that would make this the greatest baseball story in a long time.

Didn't expect the doggie door, or the exit out the doggie door by being pulled out by another minor leaguer.

According to Wiki, the Astros drafted Nix in the fifth round of the 2014 MLB draft out of Los Alamitos High School, but they reneged on the agreed signing bonus and Nix did not sign. Maybe he was just getting that bonus back.

Where's the obligatory "Police believe alcohol was a factor"?

Those Red Sox have been known to get into trouble, too...

So this is two drunk idiots getting in trouble, right? That would be my guess. They probably thought this would be hilarious.

He was one of the two guys that got burned when Brady Aiken failed his physical and wouldn't reduce his demands, and the Astros couldn't make the offer they had agreed upon without going outside their budget limit and forfeiting a future first-rounder.

The Padres' roster is pretty deep, and they have a bunch of R5-eligible guys, too. I wonder whether this ends up costing him his roster spot?

The Patriots have jumped in and said they will sign him if the Padres decide to let him go

The homeowner reported to police that a man, later identified as 23-year-old Jacob James Nix, entered his home through a doggie door. The homeowner confronted Nix, kicking him one time in the face. Police say another man, 23-year-old Thomas Cosgrove, then reached through the doggie door to pull Nix out of the home.

As the two fled, the homeowner leaned out of the doggie door and deployed his Taser, striking Nix in the back, according to court records.

So is the homeowner, who probably would be going to prison if he shot a fleeing guy in the back.

Well, he's not related to the two Nix brothers who both played in the majors. We know this because his name isn't Jaycob.

BTW, this occurred in Peoria, Arizona (not the perhaps better know city by same name in Illinois), where Nix was assigned to the Peoria Javelinas for the Arizona Fall League.

This is much ado about nothing, being tasered is not a big deal. In fact, in Peoria it’s so common that it’s called the “Peoria Hello”. Someone yells at you over a parking space? Taser. Your neighbor is mowing their lawn too early in the morning? Taser. A person of the wrong color rings your doorbell? Taser. Movie theatre won’t give refund for bad minus? Taser.

Coincidentally the kick to the back the homeowner gave Nix is also called the “Peoria Goodbye”.
