Pete Abraham on Twitter: “Here is the 2023 schedule”

The Red Sox are playing 42 interleague games next year. What’s the point of divisions and leagues at this point?

there IS no point and that IS the point.

its what buddy boy started and he wanted just one league with a bunch of teams divided up by region and he finally got it.

Why 42? Which team are they not playing?

EDIT1: Looks like Marlins? Why?

EDIT2: Nope, and 4 games vs Atlanta. Are we sure it's 42?

EDIT3: I count 46. 4 vs Atlanta and 3 vs everyone else.

The Red Sox have 162 games on their schedule for the second consecutive year, I wonder how often that has happened.

I think that's right. 14 3-game series and home-and-home two-game sets against the designated rival.

The Rangers in 2023 have what looks at a quick count like 3 Monday off-days and 16 Thursday off-days. (This year, I think it was 10 of each in the original schedule.)

I wondered if that would become a league-wide principle to keep Thursdays mostly open, but the Red Sox have more of a Monday/Thursday balance. Just one of those oddities, I guess.
