Pete Alonso Hits 49th Homer to Break Team Single-Season Record

” .. the only record that Alonso cares about is his team’s”

And he can steal a base.  Never gets caught. You can look it up!

Misleading headline.

I was totally out on the Mets Tuesday morning, didn't even follow the game Yeterday and now I'm all the way back in. Go Cardinals (ugh)!

Sort-of related to TFA, but Jeff McNeil has basically been two different hitters this season:

1st Half: .349/.409/.509 (.917 OPS), 7 HR in 318 PA
2nd Half: .272/.357/.564 (.922 OPS), 15 HR in 221 PA

It does seem like there's been a change in approach, with McNeil trying to pull the ball and swing for the fences a bit more. The OPS is basically identical, and either version is a fantastic player, although the one with the higher OBP is probably more valuable and I kind of miss that version. There are lots of .270 hitters with some pop today, not a lot of .340 guys who can hit to all fields.
