1. Starring Bradley Scotchman as RMc Posted: October 08, 2021 at 09:28 AM (#6044722)“You’re listening to a Cincinnati Reds baseball, brought to you by Pete Rose’s daily picks”
"Hi, I'm Mike Trout, and next to forecasting today's weather, my favorite hobby is forecasting today's winners in the fun, exciting, and totally harmless
gamblinggaming options brought to you by [high-bidding MLB Official Gambling Partner™]. For all my latest advice, join me right here 30 minutes before the first game of the day for Mike Trout's Daily Winners Forecast, and together we'll make it rain every day no matter what season we're in."Also, wasn't Rose a famously terrible gambler?
You are giving Rose way too much benefit here.
You beat me to it. MLB has absolutely zero standing to criticize Rose or any other player who associates himself with gambling interests.
19:16 mark Pete began his higher calling.

MLB shouldn't criticize anyone for "associating himself with gambling interests" at this point. But I think they can still criticize someone who bets on games while playing/coaching/umpiring.
If Rose wants to have a gambling podcast, I don't think that should have any bearing on his reinstatement into the game. As others have said, there are plenty of other good reasons to oppose that.
Rose agreed to a permanent ban and never provided any reason for MLB to rescind it. This hasn't changed.
which means you could make money fading him. Someone who's almost always wrong is just as valuable as someone who's almost always right
No, but neither is MLB's partnering with gambling interests. It's just pathetic.
Then just decriminalize gambling. I'd be all in favor of that. But having MLB encourage it is another story altogether.
Felipe Hernandez suspended for betting on MLS matches
Link.
No idea if they still do. The retired FBI agents seemingly helped to convey how seriously MLB took that matter.
I think both those situations are rare. Given that every pick is basically a coin flip, with the 10% vig, or the odds used in baseball, it's hard to justify gambling large mounts of money, given that the regression toward 50% will eat at your ROI.
