As a recent college grad living in Philadelphia, I find this story appalling. How dare they ruin the fun before I get to indulge?

It's a shame Philly's college students need to ruin the stately atmosphere provided by Philadelphia's other fans. Why, I'll never forget a few years back, when the overall demeanor of college students nearly caused a Phillies fan friend of mine to drop his monacle as he was led toward Veterans' Stadium's courthouse for lewd and drunken bahavior.

The first time I ever went to the City of Brotherly Love was for a basketball game (A-10 Conference Tourney between GW-Temple at the FU Spectrum). The Philadelphians literraly ripped the clothes (both cap and shirt) off my body. I was but a poor and quiet Midwesterner who had done nothing to draw attention to myself.

Let is be a lesson.

So you're exaggerating, then? They left you're other clothes on?

Temple used to make the A-10 tournament?

Oops, went a little crazy with the "you'res".

The A-10 tourney in the Palestra (full slate of games, including RU v. Temple), back in the day, was a thing to behold. Sigh, those were the days.

Anything in the Palestra is a sight to behold.

My first time in Philly was also for an A-10 tournament game: GW vs. Rutgers (I was in the GW band). In the Palestra, surely a strange place, the bluest arena I have ever been to. Someone in the band knew their way around town, and got us all some tasty cheesesteaks. And of course, the highlight of any A-10 tournament back then, getting your picture taken with Bill Cosby.

After my freshman year, the tournament moved to the Spectrum, which obviously had much less character. And thankfully I was a member of the GW band, whose rowdiness and profanity fit in well with the famed Philly fans.

Happened to catch a handful of Phillies spring training games, and they were plugging this promotion pretty hard on the broadcast. Did the team not expect this would happen?

Mariners are running a college-night promo all season long (apparently it's a trend), but the local students aren't as notorious as those of other locales.

Unless Huskies and Cougars attempt to play the Apple Cup in the Safeco bleachers.
