Wow, Ted Lyons went into military service at age 41. Must have been a volunteer.
If he had stayed, he probably could have gotten to 300 wins feasting on the weakened league. He had a 171 ERA+ in 1942 at 41, and a 148 in limited time in 1946 at age 45.
