Omaha Daily Bee, July 13, 1921: Babe Ruth, by knocking two home runs [yesterday], brought his record for the season to 34 and gave New York the victory over St. Louis, 6 to 4.
Those home runs were the 136th and 137th of Ruth’s career, putting him one behind Roger Connor for the all-time career record. Not bad for a 26-year-old.
