1. Walt Davis Posted: September 23, 2022 at 03:12 PM (#6097656)Semien has turned things around dramatically. His OPS+ is up to 111 -- he's always been highly variable, this is right in line with his career average. Rfield loves his defense, so does statcast and his baserunning has been excellent. So he's at 5.6 WAR which is awesome return for $25 M this season.
How about deGrom?
That was a short quest.
if TEX outbids the Mets, I think he'd be fine with leaving.
not even a rumor about Jake resenting Max's contract, but he is laser-focused on being an alpha male himself.
very late bloomer but never lacked confidence. no home town discount here.
And Toronto's a great town. Best Indian food in North America.
Edit: wasn't sure if it was whomever, or whoever, and am too tired to think about it, so switch to "whatever team". copout!
What's this now?
A very specific description. Let’s see, how many teams, regardless of market, have gone to 2 straight WS with at least one win?
2017-18 Dodgers don’t count, didn’t win either. Same with the Rangers with Nelson Cruz’s dropped flyball.
Royals, 2014-15
Yankees 4 straight, 1998-2001, won 3
Braves, 1995-96
Blue Jays, 1992-93
Oakland, 1988-90
More common in 60s and 70s, from 1960-1978 you always had at least one team in the midst of such a streak, sometimes two. It goes Yankees-Dodgers-Cardinals-Orioles-A’s-Reds-Yankees.
On the other hand, from 1988-90, the A's weren't acting like a small market team (and the Giants hadn't assumed the dominance they would a decade later).
The Reds of 1975-76 would seem to qualify, though they may be eliminated by winning two.
