Ready to Rock? 2020 MLB Ballpark Concerts

Over the years, Major League Baseball ballparks have evolved from hosting more than baseball by expanding into entertainment and welcoming major concerts. This year is no different, with several high-profile tours making stops across MLB’s slate of facilities…

The Stadium Tour brings Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts together…Another classic rock act hitting the road this summer is Guns N’ Roses. On select dates, they will be joined by special guests The Smashing Pumpkins…The Hella Mega Tour will be hitting the road featuring Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer and special guests The Intruders…Dead & Company will once again tour MLB ballparks this summer, with stops scheduled at multiple facilities…In addition to the rock and roll acts, there are several country artists touring MLB ballparks…

The Fenway schedule includes:

June 21: James Taylor and his All-Star Band
June 24: Maroon 5, Meghan Trainor, and Leon Bridges
July 21: Guns N’ Roses
Aug 7: Dead & Co
Aug 8: Dead & Co
Aug 25: Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
Aug 26: Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
Aug 27: Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and The Intruders
Aug 28: Billy Joel
Sep 18: Aerosmith
Sep 19: New Kids on The Block

That stretch of 9 acts in 3 days will be something. I guess while the stage is set up they might as well make the most of it. Ballapalooza! (Or I guess, since it's Fenway, Wallapalooza!)

Wish they would swap Fall Out Boy for Joan Jett. I could watch a Green Day / Joan Jett concert.

Opening act Leon Bridges is probably the only one that I'd pay to see.

Will they provide complementary ear plugs for the Maroon 5 thing?

These ear plugs go nice with my hat.

It's cool MLB is trying to diversify it's audience, even through it's entertainment choices. These bands will definitely hit on the 40-70 year old white male market they have been searching for.

I don't think it's MLB's doing as the Red Sox are on the road for all the dates in [1]. It's more like stadium owners revenue-keepers simply trying to wring more profit out of the stadiums they play in.

#8- Ok. I'm still going to blame Manfred though.

No Pavement?

Absolute weirdest pairing has to be this one:

. At Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees will play host to Joel and Victoria Osteen with Kanye West and The Sunday Service Choir on May 2. This will mark the Osteens’ third appearance at Yankee Stadium, this time joined by West and his choir

I guess, given the change to the late season roster expansion rule this year, this will be the one opportunity to see new kids play in September.

Not quite the same.

What's going on Aug 30, a tractor pull? It's like the Red Sox want a terrible field for the Yankee series on Aug 31.

I saw Def Leppard at the Michigan State Fair in the late 90s. It was really sad then. This seems a lot better.

I saw the Violent Femmes and B52s at the MN state fair back when Love Shack was touring. The highlight of the event was 7000 people staring in at the ASL interpreter for the Blister in the Sun lyrics and immediately turning to their neighbors to share their new vocabulary.

"No. No. No. If I told them once I told them a thousand times. The marquee is supposed to say "Guns and Roses" and "Puppet Show" underneath and not "Puppet Show" and "Guns and Roses""
